'Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness' (PSP) Coming to Europe - Screens

by Rainier on Nov. 8, 2007 @ 8:21 a.m. PST

In this Strategy RPG, train your characters to level 9999 and deal damage by the millions in the wacky Netherworld that is Disgaea.

“When a game can literally swallow up over 100 joyous hours of your life then there’s nothing better than being able to keep your tactical fires burning while on the go. Disgaea’s move to PSP is the perfect solution for gamers who can’t wait to see what crazy twist is coming next, who are itching to try out their latest battle plan or just can’t get enough of those irresistible prinnies” said Will Curley, Sales Manager for KOEI Ltd.

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness tells the story of Prince Laharl and his outlandish group of misfits as he battles for ultimate rule of the Netherworld. Exclusively for this PSP release a whole new story mode dedicated to Etna has been added. In this mode you will play as Etna and try to become Beauty Queen Ultimate Overlord Etna. If you are able to defeat the game in this mode, an exclusive ending awaits the player. The game also features a number of familiar faces from past Disgaea adventures for players to discover and unlock.

With the new multi-player mode the wait is finally over. Now gamers will finally know just who is the ultimate strategist. With the all new Duel System developed specifically for Disgaea fans the series returns with one of the most desired features that lets players battle each other wherever they are. The new Adhoc shopping also lets players connect to each other’s shops and share rare and valuable items with each other. And at Laharl’s castle there is even a hidden music shop where you can purchase your favourite soundtracks and play them in the item world as background music.

If you thought customization is only for characters and weapons, then think again. With Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness you can even customize the multi player mode. Changes can be made to the game rules, field conditions, win/loss conditions, and many more. You’ll never again be bored with the same old battle situations!

The word strategy takes on a new meaning with geo cubes. By enabling this feature you select 10 geo cubes that each have special effects; from levelling up or stop enemy movement, to gaining the ultimate weapon. Then from the 10 you chose, 5 are randomly dealt to you and the same for your opponent. You can see the 10 cubes your opponent selected, but you do not know which 5 they gained.

Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness is the latest Strategy RPG spectacular from Nippon Ichi and follows in the footsteps of hugely popular titles Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle: tactics and of course the massive original Disgaea and its blockbusting sequel. With a wealth of new features and PSP specific multi-player battles, along with the return of many of the gang fondly remembered from the first two games Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is already looking like being the handheld event of the year.

Already available in North America, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is set for release across Europe in December.
