Developed by Splash Damage and built on id Software's new MegaTexture rendering technology, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars pits the armies of Earth against the invading alien Strogg in the ultimate online strategic shooter. Featuring strategic team play, persistent character promotions, day and nighttime combat missions, and the universe's most powerful weapons and vehicles, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars transports players to the front lines of an epic new war for Earth.

User Interface

  • New recommended "Hot Servers" guarantee to start players out on servers at the beginning of a campaign with a good ping
  • HUD flexibility: add or subtract information from the HUD
  • Improved end screen gives more information on upcoming persistent achievements, campaign length upgrades and personal bests
  • 'Least Accurate Player' award replaced with 'Most Objectives Completed' award
  • Deployables now identified by player who deployed them
  • Objective decay more clearly identified
  • Warning when locked on by anti-personnel turret
  • Added progress bar when being player is being revived by a Technician
  • Fire Team positions now colour-coded
  • Admins can now pause the game
  • Auto downloading added
  • EULA updated to solve mod-ownership ambiguities

Gameplay

  • Basic Training added for new players to teach them how to use the Mission System, pursue objectives, reviews, the radio, deployments, requests, and how to capture and liberate spawns
  • Bots in Basic Training will focus on support tasks, allowing new players to focus on completing missions
  • New tool tips added to assist new players
  • ETQW:TV will allow hundreds of players to spectate in tournaments without impacting the competitors' play experience
  • More accurate headshot detection
  • Better locational damage tracking
  • Vehicles at base immune until driven
  • Anansi and Tormentor powered down
  • Second hacks can be done to deployables, causing physical damage that will require an Engineer to repair
  • Sniper Rifle and Railgun easier to spot
  • Tweaks to Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Lacerator
  • Adjustments to Icaus, Stroybombs, Rocket launcher and AP Turrent lock-on
  • MCP no longer takes damage while being repaired to movable state
  • MCP driver will no longer die when it does take damage in this state, but will not be able to use the gun
  • MCP will auto deploy when in green zone

Networking

  • Solution implemented to solve problems where ET:QW was detected as a file-sharing program
  • Warping issues fixed
