'SingStar Pop' (PS2) Gets North American Release Date

by Rainier on Feb. 12, 2007 @ 2:40 p.m. PST

Complimenting the SingStar range with a fresh new look and a broad contemporary song selection, SingStar Pop includes 30 new tracks and supports the impressive list of household-names already featured in the SingStar range, a great recipe to spice up any party.

Classic gameplay modes from previous SingStar games make a welcome comeback in SingStar Pop. Pass the Mic and Duets return, along with new original features such as "Rap Scoring". Gain extra points as you battle against your crew to see who is the master of the mic, with the ultimate MC showdown! In Medley mode, short segments of five different songs are strung together, challenging would be pop stars to think fast and score high before the tune changes. In addition, SingStar Pop incorporates brand new voice filters that can be used in Playback Mode to distort and enhance players' vocal performance.

Developed by SCEE's London Studio, SingStar Pop comes with two microphones that plug into PS2 via a USB adaptor, offering an instant multi-play experience as the SingStar technology analyses the player's vocal skills, based on their pitch, tone and rhythm. The game is also EyeToy compatible allowing players to actually see themselves singing within the game.

SingStar Pop also is compatible with the EyeToy USB Camera, so players can not only watch themselves performing in the limelight, but also playback those golden moments again and again! Whether dreaming of their own solo performance or enjoying a good time with friends and family, players can headline the game in single-player mode or break loose with several multiplayer modes. An ideal game to keep the party going, a group of players can hop on the mic with multiplayer options including cooperative Duet Mode, one-on-one Battle Mode and the team-based Pass-the-Mic. And as an added feature for SingStar fans, players can easily expand their song library by accessing the song list from SingStar Rocks! while playing SingStar Pop, and vice versa, via the quick disc swap feature.

Players can choose from an extensive list of pop songs to keep festivities going, including:
