'Critical Path' Announced

by Rainier on March 22, 2007 @ 9:40 a.m. PDT

Dusk2Dawn announces Critical Path, a multilevel game that takes the best from popular genres, such as first person shooters, driving and 3rd person run ‘n’ gun and brings them all together in one explosive title for home computers.

Developed by StarFish Game Studios, the wholly owned subsidiary of D2D, players will take the role of a path cutter, a renowned rebel scout that is highly skilled in opening up holes in enemy defences to allow supply chains to get through safely.

As earth’s natural resources began to run out the world fragmented into the protectors of peace – known as The Hand of Justice – and numerous terrorist fractions lead by an organisation simply known as ‘Shade’, hell-bent on global domination. As a member of the ‘Hand’, you are charged with making sure the last of the earth’s precious resources does not fall to enemy hands. A number of convoys need a route through enemy territory – that’s where you come in!

“It’s hard not to say that Mad Max is an inspiration here, but we’re working on a game that will send players into a dying world working as a ‘path cutter’ - one of the most deadly jobs available,” said Neil Cotton, Publishing Director at D2D Games.

“This game is looking like another exciting title to come from StarFish studios, and another great original budget game, which is scheduled for release later on this year (Q3).”

Critical Path will be competitively priced at RRP £4.99 and will be specially priced to the trade for good use in store campaigns.

“We’re utilising our ‘level play’ brand and ethic for this title as the player can select any of the 14 missions and play, replay or skip as they feel fit and is again aimed at the casual gamer who doesn’t want to spend weeks/months or years on a game, but prefers to play for short periods.” said Cotton.

D2D holds a global licence on Critical Path, but will begin by publishing in the UK with other territories to follow very soon after.

A further 17 budget/campaign priced titles are yet to be announced by D2D and have been scheduled by StarFish Game Studios for release under the Level Play brand during the latter part of 2007.
