Tuesday, February 12, 2008 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on Feb. 12, 2008 @ 6:19 a.m. PST

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Jumper: Griffin’s Story (PS2/Wii/X360)

Jumpers, people with a genetic anomaly that enables them to teleport themselves instantaneously to anywhere on the globe, have existed for centuries. An age-old battle rages between the Jumpers and the Paladins, a clandestine organization set on eliminating them from the planet.

The Jumper: Griffin’s Story game extends the film’s storyline, following Griffin, a battle-hardened Jumper determined to avenge the death of his parents at the hands of the Paladins. Griffin is played by Jamie Bell in both the film and the game, offering players the ability to experience the character first hand as he battles through exotic locales around the world, on a quest to find his parent’s killer. Players use their teleportation skills to “Jump” within hand-to-hand combat range of an enemy, and use intense combo fighting systems to start dishing out devastating blows.

Directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity), and starring Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Jamie Bell, and Samuel L. Jackson, Jumper premieres in theatres this Thursday, February 14, 2008.

Jumper: Griffin’s Story, rated ‘T’ for Teen, is now available for the PS2, Wii, and X360 at all North American retailers.

Penumbra: Black Plague (PC)

The second instalment in the Penumbra series becomes the latest addition to the survival horror genre, inviting gamers to continue Philips quest from the cliffhanger finale of the previous episode.

Developed by Frictional Games, the highly talented and creative two-man team has toiled to deliver a gaming experience that surpasses the lofty expectations generated by their first collaboration.

Dungeon Explorer Warriors of Ancient Arts (NDS/PSP)

“We are thrilled to bring back a classic RPG franchise on current gen platforms,” said John Greiner President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. “Both the PSP and NDS games offer players two deep, action-packed RPG experiences that truly represent what the Dungeon Explorer property is all about.”

Both versions deliver unique game play adventures, while updating the classic series with all-new engaging stories. On the PSP® system, players find themselves on a quest to uncover the fate of a legendary kingdom. Along the way, heroes will engage in epic battles and fight against demonic and monstrous creatures, armed with their own arsenal of assorted weapons. There are hundreds of variations between weapons, armor and equipment for players to choose from, all of which can be reworked as they progress through the adventure.

On the PSP, players have the ability to choose their warfare style with more than 150 different kinds of fighting arts, one of them being Big Bang Arts. Big Bang Arts, unique to Dungeon Explorer Warriors of Ancient Arts for the PSP, allows three players to team up to triple their destructive power in Ad-Hoc Multiplayer mode. Big Bang Arts harnesses the power of all three characters at once to unleash a devastating attack on the enemy. Timing is crucial, as the game is action-oriented, and must be calculated precisely in order to be successful. The PSP version has been rated T (Teen) by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

The NDS version places gamers in a land beleaguered by a legion of undead, monstrous soldiers. The story takes place long after the events of the PSP, as a legend foretells of a hero who will rise to face the growing threat. Gamers must rediscover the lost Ancient Fighting Arts to restore peace to the once flourishing kingdom of Westria. With more than 60 different fighting arts across 8 lost Ancient Fighting Art schools, players can become skilled warriors in order to successfully wage battle against their enemies. Armories of weapons, armor and equipment are available to players, along with three hero races and three character job classes. Players can also play in a group, as 3 players can join forces to battle the Demon God’s minions via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The Nintendo DS version has been rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and older) by the ESRB.

Dungeon Explorer Warriors of Ancient Arts will retail for a SRP of $29.99 each.
