Sony Prepping PS3 Online Video Service
by Rainier on April 22, 2008 @ 5:03 p.m. PDT
Citing Hollywood executives, the LA Times claims that Sony has been in licensing talks with movie/tv studios the past few weeks in order to launch an online video service through its PS3 game console, as early as this summer. While Sony of course did not comment on the matter, SCEA's senior vice president of marketing Peter Dille said "we'll be offering a video service for PS3 in a way that separates the service from others you've seen or used." The service will have to compete with Microsoft's Xbox Live which currently offers 350 movies and more than 5,000 episodes of TV shows.
