'Call of Duty: World at War' (Wii/PS3/X360/PC) Revealed

by Rainier on June 9, 2008 @ 4:09 a.m. PDT

Powered by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare technology, Call of Duty: World at War brings an uncensored edge to combat, as soldiers face the most harrowing and climactic European and Pacific battles in which an enemy, who knows no surrender and no retreat, will fight to the last breath, unleashing an arsenal of lethal surprising tactics. Peril and danger lurk throughout the battlefield as players combat the unknown risk of the new chaos of battle.
A few weeks back Activision confirmed a new installment in the Call of Duty franchise was in the works, albeit not by Infinity War, but rather by Treyarch. Promising a "new theatre of war," Call of Duty 5, using the COD 4 engine, goes back to WWII but this time set in the Pacific (and Russia's advance into Berlin) according to UK magazine GamesTM. COD5 will be darker, scarier with enemies using different tactics (hiding in trees, sneaking, suicidal etc.) For the first time in the series the game will feature 4-player co-op while multiplayer includes vehicles, squad based elements, a return of COD4's perks, and support for the Wii zapper.
