Wednesday, July 30, 2008 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on July 30, 2008 @ 1:29 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 (XBLA)

Developed by Bizarre Creations, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is the sequel to the original smash hit, thrusting players back into the pilot's seat to blast through hordes of deadly enemy shapes in six heart-pumping gameplay modes. In addition to the frenetic single player game, each level is now playable in multiplayer mode for up to four players.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 features all the signature eye-popping visuals, adrenaline-filled action and mesmerizing music that fans have come to know and love. The game allows players to test their skills in a diverse mix of classic modes including Deadline, Evolved and Waves, and brand new modes including King, Sequence and Pacifism. Expanding the game further than ever, gamers also have the ability to compete against or team up with their friends in the ultimate multiplayer shooter pandemonium.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is available now via download on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 for 800 Microsoft Points. The game has been rated ā€œEā€ for Everyone by the ESRB.

King of Clubs (Wii) (XBLA)

Every course in King of Clubs is in many ways a puzzle game, with multiple routes, a generous helping of moving obstacles, and the potential for some outrageous and intricate hole-in-ones (and even a "hole-in-none!"). To get the best score, you'll need to take advantage of your magic golf bag that's full of tricky golf accessories, like special balls and trick clubs. You'll laugh through 96 competitive mini golf holes that will leave you in stitches, with hazards that include wall sliders, gates, risers, bumpers, trapdoors, water hazards, pools of lava and even boiling oil!

In multiplayer matches, frustrate your buddy with gag balls, gag clubs and audio distractions when they're putting. "Golf Warriors" pits up to four players against each other in a standard tournament style competition, but with one big difference: every shot the players will all have to use the same randomly selected club type and ball type, so each shot means a new club and ball combination.

King of Clubs is available now for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Women's Volleyball Championship (PS2)

In Women's Volleyball Championship, players can play as one of twelve countries or create their own team of super athletes battling for the right to be declared number one.

"The developer wanted to make the game the most realistic volleyball video game out there," said Mark Johnson, producer at Agetec. "They've worked really hard to make sure they captured the true heart and passion of the court in this game - they wanted players to feel like they are really in the game, bumping, setting, and spiking."

Women's Volleyball Championship features six venues from around the world and allows players to enjoy volleyball at its finest. If players so desire, they can create their own team by training customized volleyball players using various skill cards such as spiking, blocking, passing, setting, serving, squatting, and sprinting. Team members will also be affected by hindering conditions, such as exhaustion and injuries, during training adding another level of realism to the game.

Women's Volleyball Championship is rated "Eā€ for everyone and is available now for $14.99.
