Capturing the high seas and swashbuckling adventures found in both Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, players embark on quests for adventure and treasure in an effort to become the Caribbeans most legendary pirate. Featuring hundreds of customization options, players create and customize their own pirate, form a crew, and set sail on the high seas. Along the way they learn skills and tactics from the notorious Jack Sparrow, helping them forge alliances, hunt for buried treasure, battle evil undead forces and face off against known enemies from the movie franchise.The game is being designed by the Walt Disney Internet Group's acclaimed VR Studio as a world of high seas action and adventure where players will personalize their own pirate character and organize with other players to form a pirate crew. Players will then embark on swashbuckling missions to battle both each other and the evil, undead pirates of the high seas in an effort to become the Caribbean's most legendary pirate. Access to the game will be available directly online and players will pay a subscription fee for the service.
From August 15th through August 18th (12 PM PT), Disney Online will host a Free Preview Weekend for Pirates of the Caribbean Online which will include:
- FREE Unlimited Access to the Caribbean - As the Spaniard Garcia de Avaricia and Frenchman Pierre le Porc fight for control of their territories, the battle in the Caribbean rages on! Eager for new recruits to join the fight, the French and Spanish Pirate "Lords" have decreed that for a limited time, free Unlimited Access be granted to all Basic Access Pirates! (After August 18th, accounts that were upgraded for free will revert back to Basic Access status).
- 50% discount on Customizable items for Unlimited Access Players - To reward Pirates that are already Members of the Unlimited Access crew, a 50% discount on customizable items will be available at all Clothing Tailors, Barbershops, Tattoo Parlors, and Jewelry Shops will be offered during this time.
Disney Online has additional content planned for 2008 including expanding ship customization, extending quest story lines, and adding more enemies and challenges.
Pirates of the Caribbean Online, developed and published by Disney Online, is rated E10+, and is currenltly available for download/trial.
