While SCEA is working on a third title in the franchise, and in talks about a God of War movie, it has been accused, and sued, for plagiarism by Jonathon Bissoon-Dath and Jennifer Barrette-Herzog who claim God of War is based on their Olympiad screenplay they sent to Sony Pictures back in 2002, three years before the first GoW title appeared on the PS2. While the plantiffs list various obvious similarities between the two projects, then project director David Jaffe says the lawsuit is "inaccurate, incomplete, abstracted and/or misleading."
