The new Yankee Stadium will feature a Sony HD broadcast control room; more than 550 flat-panel BRAVIA and professional LCD HD television sets in the luxury suites, lounges, concourses, restaurants and administrative offices. In addition, PS3s and VAIO laptops will be available to fans in select locations throughout the Stadium.

The new Yankee Stadium is expected to create a grand stage for baseball beginning this season. Fans who step away from their seats will also be able to catch a crisp view of the action. The Yankees and Sony Electronics announced an agreement Thursday that will deliver a corporate marketing and high-definition technology relationship to the new stadium, which is set to open April 16 vs. the Cleveland Indians.

Plans are for the new Yankee Stadium to have a Sony HD broadcast control room; more than 550 flat-panel BRAVIA and professional LCD HD television sets in the luxury suites, lounges, concourses, restaurants and administrative offices; plus Sony HD branding elements featured prominently throughout the stadium.

In addition, Sony PlayStation 3 entertainment systems and VAIO notebook computers will be available to fans in select locations throughout the Stadium.

"We are proud to continue our long-term relationship with Sony Electronics," said Yankees COO Lonn Trost. "Integrating Sony products into Yankee Stadium is very important to us as we near completion of what will certainly be among the most modern and technologically advanced sports venues in the world."

Sony branding will be seen throughout the stadium, including an advertisement on the right-field wall and diorama ads in four concourse location. Sony has been designated as the official LCD television, HD television and consumer electronics manufacturer of the Yankees.

"The new home of the world's most renowned sports franchise -- with its storied history of leadership and excellence -- is the perfect place to showcase all that is Sony," said Sir Howard Stringer, chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Corporation. "It is thrilling for Sony to be playing a part in this new chapter in Yankee history."

Construction continues on the new $1.3 billion Yankee Stadium, which is rising across 161st Street from the classic Yankee Stadium facility.
Most recently visited by first baseman Mark Teixeira on Tuesday for a photo opportunity following his introduction to the New York media, the new Yankee Stadium is scheduled to be handed over to the Yankees on Feb. 17.
