As in the original Tropico, the player will again be able to play the role of “El Presidente” taking over the control of a tropical island. You decide whether you want to use your army to secure your power base in the best traditions of corrupt, unscrupulous tyrants everywhere, or alternatively to lead your people to prosperity in your role as generous elder statesman.
Danger lurks on every corner. There are militant rebels planning a Coup d'État for a communistic Junta, while in the background there are two lurking superpowers, the USA and the Soviet Union, who would perhaps prefer a more pliable president in the strategically important island of Tropico!
Prepare to be whisked you away to the Caribbean paradise Island of Tropico where you take up charge as the newly installed ‘El Presidente’ – after a warm up tutorial you have the chance to show off your Presidential skills with two full missions.
MISSION 1: Bananas
The abdication of the old Presidente of St. Helena provided the perfect opportunity for your rise to power. Now as the head of state it is your job to lead this small island nation to a new age of prosperity.
St. Helena is a modest island with rich and fertile lands, which have attracted the attention of the American food conglomerate Fruitas LTD. You should make use of the gringos to secure the financial future of the island as well as your own Swiss Bank Account.
MISSION 2: Second Chance
The band of rebels led by your twin managed to drive you out of your own island. Taking the entire treasury, you hitched a ride on an old fishing boat, seeking refuge in your summer residence on the island of El Acantilado.
One of the most prominent features of the sequel is your own, freely customizable avatar. This time, you will be able to slip into the clothes of El Presidente, wander about Tropico Island and directly influence your people.
Tropico 3 on the Xbox 360 will be an almost identical port of the PC version except for some of the interface elements which will be specially adapted for the console. Tropico 3 includes a robust set of new features, including a powerful new mission editor, an online challenge mode and a new avatar function that allows players to customise their own unique "El Presidente." Once created, the new ruler is free to travel the island giving speeches, issuing edicts and exerting other means of influence. A comprehensive campaign mode features 18 different missions, while a challenge editor (PC version), new buildings, industries and infrastructure provide players with a wide array of options for hours of in-depth gameplay. User generated content will be available via DLC for Xbox360 players to further the experience.
The game will attract the fans of the Tropico series, as well as newcomers with state-of-the-art graphics, complex gameplay similar to the other titles in the series and a comprehensive multiplayer mode.
