'Rooms: The Main Building' (NDS/Wii) Introduces Mr. Book - New Screens

by Rainier on Dec. 21, 2009 @ 9:55 a.m. PST

In Rooms: The Main Building, an invitation arrives at the character's doorstep and unknowingly diverts them to an alternate world where players use extraordinary items and devices to navigate through a variety of rooms and buildings. To enter the next room, players must carefully shift rooms around in a manner similar to slide puzzles.

An invitation that abruptly arrives at your doorstep has unknowingly diverted you to an entrance of a world filled with mystic beauty. Getting there is the easy part, coming home will be the adventure.  In that world, you will need to reach the exit by sliding the rooms in the same way as a slide puzzle, forcing you to use all of your ingenuity in your escape. At the same time you, as the player, must use fantastical devices to navigate through each of these rooms.  But don’t worry! You will have a guide that goes by the name of Mr. Book, who will take you around the worlds, showing you how to move rooms and use gimmicks in your flight from “Rooms: The Main Building”.

Who is he?

Mr. Book is a bit mysterious. No one knows his age, background or his true name. Rumors say he resembles a talking book with eyes and a mouth. He lives in an abandoned mansion, of which he claims to be the steward. But for whom?

What is he like?

Kind but wicked; these two contrasting words would be perfect in describing his character. Although he is very kind toward the rare guest of the mansion, his sneaky-sounding way of talking and the smirk on his face can make them feel uncomfortable. Although he is rather talkative, he is not a good listener. This might because he has no ears.

Where did he come from?

Once upon a time, Mr. Book was himself a guest of the abandoned mansion, where he met a fellow who looked like him and introduced himself as Mr. Book. The first Mr. Book tricked the present Mr. Book into taking his form, thus allowing the first one to return to his human form. As a result, the present Mr. Book now must find an unknowing guest to in order to escape the mansion himself. The cycle will continue at the mysterious mansion.
