Based on the long awaited “Watchmen” film directed by Zack Snyder, Watchmen: The End is Nigh will be released as a long-form downloadable game timed to the March 2009 film release. Watchmen: The End is Nigh will go beyond the film and delve into the characters, rivalries and challenges in a mature action-brawler. The game features bloody, visceral combat in rich settings while it explores the crime-fighting partnership of urban vigilantes Rorschach and Nite Owl.

The game captures the action and intrigue of the “Watchmen” feature film, directed by Zack Snyder, who previously helmed the blockbuster “300.” The screenplay for “Watchmen” is by David Hayter and Alex Tse, based on the award-winning graphic novel illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC Comics. The film is produced by Lawrence Gordon (“Die Hard”), Lloyd Levin (“United 93”) and Deborah Snyder (“300”), with Herbert W. Gains (“The Brave One”) and Thomas Tull (“The Dark Knight”) serving as executive producers. “Watchmen” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount Pictures in association with Legendary Pictures.

“Watchmen” is a complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, “Watchmen” is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the Doomsday Clock—which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union—moves closer to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the outlawed but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach uncovers a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with catastrophic consequences for the future.

Watchmen: The End is Nigh will feature the voices of Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl, a refined fighter well-versed in martial arts and cutting-edge gadgetry, and Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, a feral, streetwise fighter who can disarm enemies and use their own weapons against them.

Playing the film’s core group of “masks,” the masked adventurers at the center of the story, are Malin Akerman (“The Heartbreak Kid”), Billy Crudup (“The Good Shepherd”), Matthew Goode (“Match Point”), Carla Gugino (“Night at the Museum”), Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley (“Little Children”), Stephen McHattie (“Shoot ‘em Up”), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy”), and Patrick Wilson (“Little Children”).

Watchmen: The End is Nigh extends the film experience and will delve into the characters, rivalries and challenges in a mature action-brawler. The game explores the crime-fighting partnership of urban vigilantes Nite Owl and Rorschach, who track and beat down criminals to uncover a dangerous conspiracy.

WBIE's Watchmen: The End is Nigh, developed by Deadline Games, will be released on XBLA and PC on March 4, and on PSN on March 5, 2009 for $19.99 (1,600 Microsoft points).
