by Rainier on March 13, 2009 @ 6:55 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Resident Evil 5 (PS3/X360)

From the ashes of old conflicts, a new terror arises. The Umbrella Corporation and its crop of lethal viruses have been destroyed and contained. But a new, more dangerous threat has emerged. Years after surviving the events in Raccoon City, Chris Redfield has been fighting the scourge of bio-organic weapons all over the world. Now a member of the Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), Chris is sent to Africa to investigate a biological agent that is transforming the populace into aggressive and disturbing creatures. Joined by another local BSAA agent, Sheva Alomar, the two must work together to solve the truth behind the disturbing turn of events. Featuring a revolutionary new co-op mode of gameplay, Resident Evil 5 will let players experience fear together as terror moves out of the shadows and into the light of day.

Co-producer and series veterans Jun Takeuchi (Lost Planet) and Masachika Kawata (Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles) unleash an unprecedented level of fear for the new generation in Resident Evil 5, the sequel to one of the highest-rated videogames in history according to Metacritic.com and Gamerankings.com. Promising to revolutionize the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control, Resident Evil 5 is certain to bring new fans to the series. Incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil make this a must-have game for gamers across the globe.

"With record-breaking downloadable demo numbers on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network and critics across the board singing the game's praises, Resident Evil 5 is poised for a very successful launch," said Mona Hamilton, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. "The new two-player co-op experience, variety of control options, new storyline and advanced inventory system have created a revolutionary new action-packed Resident Evil game that both fans and newcomers to the series will love."

Resident Evil 5, rated M for Mature, has a suggested retail price of $59.99 at all major retailers across North America.

Codename Panzers: Cold War (PC) - Europe

The latest title in the acclaimed Codename Panzers series from developers Stormregion and InnoGlow features highly detailed visuals, deep tactical gameplay and 8 player online play, while inviting players to re-shape the chilling history of the Cold War, and decide for themselves whether or not to push the big red button labelled ‘nuke’.

At the height of the Cold War, nerves are stretched to breaking point on both sides, when a deadly accident involving Russian and American planes at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport threatens to turn the uneasy stalemate into a full-blown military conflict. It proves to be the final straw for Stalin’s Red Army who begin to advance against the NATO forces with the intention of bringing the war to a bloody conclusion.

Representing the height of Cold War era conventional warfare, Codename Panzers: Cold War features heavy armour battles between real-world heavy tanks like the American M103 and the Russian Troyanov. The Point of Interest system takes the gameplay beyond build-and-rush tactics, with structures on the map that must be occupied to gain Prestige Points which can then be used to call in special attacks like napalm or helicopter support, or to produce additional units. Special urban warfare tactics like building and taking cover, constructing fortifications or tunnelling are available to infantry units, while the dynamic weather conditions affect unit behaviour and limit sight range creating even more tactical gameplay depth.

The game features enormous customization options allowing entire armies to bear their own unique livery and every single unit, including tanks, to be customized with extra equipment including flamethrowers, amphibian devices, camouflage nets and more. Codename Panzers: Cold War features extensive online multiplayer gameplay options for up to 8 players including co-op, deathmatch and domination modes, allowing players to test their Cold War mettle against players around the globe.

Bringing endless alternate Cold War scenarios to RTS fans, presented in painstaking detail by Stormregion’s next-generation game engine, Codename Panzers: Cold War is available now at retailers across Europe.

The EVE Online box includes all nine previously released expansions plus the tenth expansion entitled EVE Online: Apocrypha. Released March 10th, Apocrypha introduces numerous new features including unstable wormholes to explore and modular ships that pilots may tailor-build to suit their own specifications and needs. Pass Your Driving Theory Test (NDS) - Europe Only

Pass Your Driving Theory Test is the essential interactive guide for those preparing to take their driving theory test. All 1265 official DSA questions are included for both cars and motorcycles, with users given the option to customise a revision schedule to fine tune their knowledge.

A theory test costs £30 and must be completed before learner drivers can take their practical examination. Almost 40% of those taking their theory test will fail, which can result in having to reschedule a practical driving test. This in turn increases costs, wastes time and adds annoyance to an already stressful situation. For £19.99, Pass Your Driving Theory Test DS is a cost effective tool to ensure a first time pass.

When learning to drive, an instructor keeps a personalised record of a student’s progress. With Pass Your Driving Theory Test DS, users can do this by analysing their test results and creating a tailored revision schedule to improve specific subject areas.

There are four effective test modes for users to assess themselves:

  • DSA Test – In this mode, learner drivers can test themselves on questions from one of the 14 official DSA categories to improve a specific subject area
  • Custom Test – This test format allows users to customise an exam to develop their knowledge by specifying the number of questions from each of the 14 categories
  • Mock Theory Test – Just like the real thing, learners are given 57 minutes to answer 50 questions, enabling them to judge if they are ready for their official theory test
  • Quick Test – These tests enable driving students with a couple of minutes spare to do a rapid revision session of 10-40 randomly selected, timed questions

Pass Your Driving Theory Test DS includes all 1265 of the official theory test questions, with explanations for every answer to ensure learner drivers gain a clear understanding of the subject area. It has been developed in conjunction with LDC, one of the UK’s largest driving schools, that also offers a FREE driving lesson worth £26 for every owner of Pass Your Driving Theory Test DS.

Avanquest Software's Pass Your Driving Theory Test is currently available in the UK for £19.99 and available from Amazon, Play and leading retail outlets including GAME and Morrisons.
