Fancy being a top darts player? Or would you prefer to match yourself up against the Pros? In this year’s PDC World Championship Darts 2009 game on Wii, you can do both! Either create your own male or female characters with your very own, barrel weights, flights, darts shirts and walk-ins or choose to move up the rankings by playing as (or against) one of 18 professional PDC players.
Will you play as ex-postman and five times World Championship winner, Raymond ‘The Man’ Van Barneveld or compete using the unique dart throwing style of Phil “The Power” Taylor, the sporting legend who has notched up an incredible 14 World Championship wins?
Left handed but not left out? The full list now includes 2 left handed players, James “the Gladiator” “009” Wade & Alan “the Saint” Tabern, who are new to the game – so no need to feel others have the unfair advantage!
Each Pro has their own set of influences on their play, including stamina, belief, ability to cope with pressure, concentration, accuracy and of course their favourite check out bed. Will it be double tops, or downstairs to “the basement” for double 3?
Oxygen and Rebellion studios have strived to give darts fans a throwing gesture as realistic as possible using the Wii Remote. PDC Darts 2009 will have 3 throwing assist levels; Max, Min and Off. Max will allow those not experienced at throwing real darts the ability to keep up with the games professional players, Min and Off modes will challenge players with greater experience taking power, dart weight and accuracy into account.
“You’ll be throwing for the match!” Using real-life player averages and incorporating professional player character traits, playing against the top talent in PDC Darts Tournaments couldn’t feel more realistic.
Immerse yourself in the experience: You’ll be able to match or beat their stamina, anticipate their strategies, hit the doubles and the triples, then go in for the kill and check out when they’re close to the wire!

Specific Improvements:
- Assist modes cover more areas than previous version.
- PDC2009 has a more intuitive system, whereby aim reticule can be re-locked into same position.
- The gesture is more sensitive and accurate
- On screen feedback is centred on the reticule, so all info is provided at the point of interest, instead of looking into a corner as in the previous version.
- Dart weights are taken into account this year. So if you’re throwing high all the time, select a heavier dart rather than tweaking your gesture.
- Relentless Focus Testing to ensure we knew where it was wrong, and where it was right. And the readjusted accordingly.
