Monday, June 8, 2009 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on June 8, 2009 @ 3:38 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

The Legendary Starfy (NDS)

The Legendary Starfy asks players to help Starfy make his way through a variety of challenges in and around the ocean. Starfy is on a quest to help a mysterious character named Bunston, who crashed through Starfy’s ceiling. Players must figure out how to navigate Starfy to the end of each stage by swimming, jumping and bouncing him over, under and through obstacles.

“Starfy makes a great addition to Nintendo’s roster of iconic characters,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Starfy’s underwater adventures have long been enjoyed by fans in Japan, and his U.S. debut is sure to provide families with hours of summer fun.”

Starfy’s abilities keep players engaged and bad guys running for cover. His Star Spin, for example, lets him burst through walls and barriers, or power through strong ocean currents. When Starfy teams up with Bunston, he can change into four powerful forms that help him overcome any hindrance and defeat enemies who dare to float in his way. Starfy can become Monstar, a dragon that spits fire; Starpedo, an Arctic seal with acrobatic abilities; Starfright, a spooky specter or Roostar, a super-squawking chicken that lays sonic eggs.

The Legendary Starfy also includes multiplayer options that let up to four friends or family members link up and play a variety of fun mini-games. Players can also team up to play through many of the game’s stages cooperatively as Starfy and his sister, Starly. There’s enough action to keep everyone busy during summer travel excursions. Starfy’s ready for action anytime, anywhere.

The Legendary Starfy is now available for the NDS and NDSi.

Knights in the Nightmare (NDS)

Knights in the Nightmare is a wholly unique experience. Frantic, energetic action mixes with thought-provoking tactical gameplay, all within a beautifully-rendered fantasy setting and presented through a captivating, emotional narrative.

Somewhere between heaven and the underworld -- in the center of a quiet lake -- stood an ancient castle known as Aventheim. One night, without warning, denizens of the netherworld emerged and slaughtered the kingdom; nary a soul was left alive.

Within an abandoned, long-forgotten church deep in the woods, a wisp is set free. Bereft of memory, it is drawn toward the monster-infested castle and re-awakens the souls of the vanquished knights, leading them back towards the fallen stronghold to confront the very forces of evil that took their lives.

As a part of the Atlus Spoils program, anyone who picks up a launch copy of Knights in the Nightmare will receive the game's soundtrack CD, with music from composer Shigeki Hayashi. With 38 haunting tracks, in addition to one bonus song that cannot be heard anywhere else, this disc is yet another premium supplement to the game, and another rare collectible for fans to add to their library.

Key Features

  • An experience unlike any before it -- Incorporating strategy RPG, real-time strategy, and shooter elements, you've never experienced a game like this. Control a Wisp with your stylus and activate the souls of deceased knights to aid you in destroying foes on the map. Enemies fire bullets in multiple directions, making it vital for players to master the unique touch controls.
  • Over 100 playable characters -- Find and recruit the ghosts of seven different classes of knights from your kingdom, and learn of their pasts, hopes, dreams, and untimely deaths. Sacrifice their souls to one another to balance their skills and create your ultimate party.
  • A tale from two perspectives -- This twice-told legend entangles you in a dark and brooding tale that is simultaneously examined through events both past and present. Complete the adventure to unlock the ability to play through the game with a new narrative twist, placing the antagonist in the starring role.

Knights in the Nightmare, rated "T" for Teen, is in stores now with a suggested retail price of $34.99.

FUEL (PS3/X360)

In addition to the 70+ quads, trucks, bikes, and cars featuring in the game, the new video also reveals hovercrafts that race across both land and water.

Built on ground-breaking technology developed by Asobo Studio, FUEL’s huge world is one of atmospheric beauty and awe-inspiring size, fully open to race and explore. This unprecedented racing playground features dramatic weather effects, including tornados, blizzards, sandstorms and lightning, a full day / night cycle and enormous environmental diversity, from the snow-capped dormant volcano Mount Rainier to the arid Grand Canyon and everything in between.

FUEL’s free-roaming nature allows gamers to pick and choose their route, races and career progression while extensive multiplayer options allow up to 16 players to race against each other in pre-set events, explore the world in free ride or create their own challenges and share them online.

FUEL is set to become the ultimate racing sandbox when it launches Tuesday June 2nd for the PS3 and Xbox 360 with a PC edition to follow.
