Shift into high gear! Designed to deliver a true driver’s experience that reflects contemporary motorsports, Need for Speed Shift is built by racers for racers. Need for Speed Shift delivers an authentic and immersive driving experience developed by Slightly Mad Studios in collaboration with executive producer Michael Mann at Black Box and senior vice president Patrick Soderlund at EA Games Europe. Slightly Mad Studios includes developers and designers that worked on the critically acclaimed games GT Legends and GTR 2. Need for Speed Shift replicates the true feeling of racing high-end performance cars like never before. Players are thrust into the heart of the action with immersive and exciting features including a stunningly realistic first-person cockpit view camera and an all-new crash mechanic, providing an unrivalled sensation of the speed and feeling of racing a car on the extreme edge of control.
Need for Speed Shift will feature 18 authentic race tracks and over 65 pixel-perfect cars including the one-of-a-kind BMW M3 GT2 that will grace the cover. The spectacular Shift cover car is one of the fastest, most powerful cars ever to be featured in a Need for Speed game.
When the Porsche Cayman was first released the wags on Top Gear drew up a chart detailing the performance and prices of the 911 and the Boxster and argued the car was deliberately square in the middle of the two. They suggested it was a simple marketing device to capture buyers with a budget for a Boxter but a yearning for a 911. Looking at the stats you could see that this would be true until you take the car out for the spin. Once on the track you realise the car wasn't designed by number-crunchers; it wasn't designed to fit a gap, it was designed for the love of the car. A desire to make something more, something better from the Boxster frame.
Unusually for a Porsche the Cayman is built outside of Germany being manufactured in Finland since its release in 2006. Unlike its older brother, the 911, the mid-size sportster is mid-engineed. The version you see here is the more-sporty Cayman S which offers almost 911-like performance. In that most modern motoring barometer; the Nurburgring fastest
lap-time the Cayman S managed a time only 5 seconds behind the 8 minutes, 15 seconds set in a 911 Carrera.
