'Bloodline Champions' Pre-Order Gets You Early Beta Access

by Rainier on Nov. 16, 2010 @ 12:21 p.m. PST

Bloodline Champions is an arena-based player vs. player game featuring unique and action-packed gameplay for up to ten people.

Bloodline Champions is a PVP game with short, intense matches for up to ten players divided into two teams. Chance is not a factor, spells and abilities do a set amount of damage. Random elements such as critical hits and passive abilities do not exist. Every spell is aimed and can be avoided by enemy players, making every ability dependent on individual player skill. Without mana and creeps, the game has almost zero downtime and is instead based on short cooldowns, this coupled with the absence of elements such as grind and farming ensures that every match is full of action.

Players can now register for the real beta and the selection of beta testers will be made based on their physical location and hardware specifications. Initially beta servers will only be hosted in Europe. The developers also have the intention to host beta servers in the US later in the beta. Selected players will receive an invitation by e-mail along with details on how to proceed from there to take part in the beta testing of Bloodline Champions.

"We are very excited to finally offer pre-orders of 'Bloodline Champions' to the public," says Morten Larssen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Funcom. "'Bloodline Champions' offers something for all players, both competitive and casual. Stunlock Studios have developed a great game; one we hope will win the hearts of gamers around the world as much as it did ours."

Customers who pre-order now will receive rewards in the form of 16 unique weapon skins, 16 avatars (portraits) and the exclusive in-game title "Dawnbreaker". In addition to this anyone pre-ordering will be given immediate access to the game which is currently in closed beta.

The game is made available in two core versions; the entry level product is priced at $29.99 and contains 16 bloodlines (classes) with an optional $9.99 upgrade for 4 additional bloodlines. The ultimate version of the game is priced at $89.99 and includes all 20 bloodlines, as well as a lifetime VIP membership to the game and lifetime discount in the in-game store, and more. Gamers will also be able to test their skills in a free-to-play version of the game that has a limited number of bloodlines available in rotation.

"We first started working on this game while we were still at university, and it's amazing to see how far we've come with the game now in a pre-order state," says the CEO of Stunlock Studios, Tau Petersson. "With more than 150,000 players enjoying the beta, we're excited to offer players a unique chance to get in early and reap the rewards of the pre-order."

From December 15th onwards the game will enter Open Beta at which point there will be a selection of four bloodlines available for free play on a weekly rotation basis. Anyone who pre-orders will be able to play their characters without the limitation of the rotation. You can sign up to the currently ongoing closed beta here.
