Xbox 360 is a video game and entertainment system that is home to video games, an on-demand library of movies and TV shows connected to the television. The Xbox 360 blends its content with the largest online social network of 20 million members on Xbox Live to create an entertainment experience that can be shared at home or across the globe.Kinect, previously known as Project Natal, is the new controller-free gaming and entertainment experience from Microsoft for its Xbox 360 console.
Beginning today at noon, select Macy’s stores around the country will host exclusive previews of the revolutionary Kinect for Xbox 360 technology, an innovative controller-free entertainment experience. Kinect will be housed in Macy’s mstylelab locations in 13 stores nationwide from July 15 – Sept. 30 leading up to the holiday gift-buying season. Customers can test drive these new controller-free entertainment experiences themselves by using the best controller ever made, their body, at the select Macy’s locations before it’s officially on the market for purchase on Nov. 4, 2010.
“Macy’s is excited to be the first retailer to present Kinect for Xbox 360 to the public in an environment suited for fun,” said Martine Reardon, executive vice president of Marketing for Macy’s. “By engaging today’s gaming and tech-savvy consumers with store demos of this yet-to-be-released experience, we believe we are creating a unique and exclusive Macy’s experience for everyone as they shop our stores during the high-traffic back-to-school season.”
Kinect is Microsoft’s latest games and entertainment innovation, compatible with every Xbox 360 sold to date. Simply step in front of the sensor and Kinect sees you move, hears your voice and recognizes you, no controller required. Kinect for Xbox 360 puts the power in your hands, your voice and your body. See a ball? Kick it. Want to start a movie? Say, “Play!” Games are designed to be easy to learn, quick to play and fun to watch, so even beginners can jump right into the action.
On July 17 and 18, consumers can visit Macy’s Herald Square for a unique opportunity to step onboard the Xbox 360 Kinect Experience Tour unit. Designed as a mobile living room, the unit allows guests to feel as comfortable and relaxed as they do in their own homes. Guests will visit exclusive, branded environments where they will get a chance to watch Kinect in action and be able try the new experience themselves! Brand ambassadors will be available to guide guests through the experience, imparting information, support and enthusiasm for Kinect. In addition to experiencing Kinect with your fellow shoppers, stop by the world famous Macy’s Herald Square windows on Broadway from July 15 – July 28 and again on Oct. 10 – 17 to view the brand ambassadors hard at work playing the gaming console for all to watch! Live window experiences will be viewable from noon to 4 p.m. on July 17, 18, 23 and 24.
