RuneScape is a massively-multiplayer online game, set in a fantasy world of warring races, ravaged landscapes and sinister powers. The game is updated twice a months with new content, quests, skills or challenges.
Launched in 2001, RuneScape has been played by over 100 million players worldwide, making it the world’s largest Free-to-play Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), as recognized by the Guinness Book of Records. The game is set in the medieval fantasy realm of Gielinor, an open-world landscape of kingdoms, regions and cities that are home to a myriad of monsters and magicks, and propel players into a multitude of quests and adventures.
Titan Books presents a new series of fantasy fiction, spinning out of the hugely popular game, RuneScape. The first ever tie-in novels to the game, Titan’s new series will launch this Fall with RuneScape: Betrayal at Falador [October 2010, $7.99], a prequel that reveals the back story of the RuneScape world.
Written by T.S. Church in close collaboration with RuneScape’s developer, the Golden Joystick Award-winning British company Jagex Games Studio, Betrayal at Falador was given an initial limited-run hardback release in 2008, which left fans clamoring for widespread publication. Now, shaped and developed with Titan Books for paperback release in October, T.S. Church’s thrilling tale provides the debut for a full RuneScape series. The second RuneScape novel, Return To Canifis, will be released in February 2011.
In the kingdom of Asgarnia, the Knights of Falador strive to defend the land and protect the people, as threats clamor from all sides—and from within; enemies mass at their borders, and a killer stalks the night, slaughtering innocents and slipping away unseen.
In the teeth of the storm, the sudden arrival of a woman named Kara-Meir launches a chain of events that endangers the Kingdom itself. But as the struggle unfolds to solve the riddle of this young adventuress, it seems that hope may lie in the hands, not of a Knight, but of an untested squire named Theodore.
