In Choplifter HD, players take on the role of an up and coming rescue pilot asked to join the elite, international helicopter rescue team. Pilots will be trained to command a variety of helicopters with offensive capabilities including missiles and mini-guns, as well as a very vocal co-pilot. Combining reality with elements of fantasy, the nearly 30 rescue missions will range from captured military prisoner extraction to saving survivors of viral outbreaks.
Pilots must bank, hover, touch-down and sometimes even shake zombies from their chopper during lift-off in order to make their rescues. Gamers can also look forward to a few cameos from some of the videogame industry's most legendary leading men including Duke Nukem and Super Meat Boy. Developed and published by inXile Entertainment, Choplifter HD dares players to risk their lives in order to save others.
The team at inXile also announced that it has tapped Choplifter franchise creator Dan Gorlin as a design consultant for the project.
"The addition of Choplifter HD to KONAMI's diverse portfolio of games is a testament of our dedication to providing gamers with the best there is to offer in the downloadable space,"said Careen Yapp, Vice President of Acquisitions and Franchise Development for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "Choplifter is a true classic, and we are looking forward to working with inXile Entertainment to bring this fun and creative re-imagining of the original title to gamers this Winter."
"Choplifter HD takes everything we loved about the classic Choplifter game and amps it up with more choppers, more weapons, more rescues, lots of zombies and more over-the-top explosions to appeal to today's action-thirsty gamer," said Brian Fargo, president, inXile Entertainment. "We are thrilled to be partnering with gaming giant Konami on bringing Choplifter HD to the many millions of Xbox Arcade players."
