While details are still slim, Samurai & Dragons is being produced by Masayoshi Kikuchi, known for such titles as Yakuza, Jet Set Radio Future, and Panzer Dragoon.

Sega's Online Entertainment Research Department claims that it decided to develop the game for the PlayStation Vita due to online connectivity, touch-screen and motion sensor capabilities.
