'Castlevania: Lords of Shadow' (ALL) Reverie DLC Coming Soon - Screens

by Rainier on March 8, 2011 @ 1:44 p.m. PST

Lords of Shadow is a new action-adventure game, a story of one man's journey to discover the true meaning of sacrifice amidst murder and betrayal.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow marks a new beginning for the Castlevania series, with Madrid-based developer Mercury Steam working closely with Konami’s respected Kojima Productions studio, led by Hideo Kojima. The title is an incredibly ambitious and ground-breaking title that mixes stunning combat elements, with a fully interactive 3D realm populated by all manner of undead and inhuman denizens.

In Castlevania Lords of Shadow ‘Reverie’ players will return to the Castle as Gabriel to help Laura, the former servant to the vampire Carmilla, in destroying the unruly evil that was previously kept in check by the recently slain Queen.

Once completed, fans of the series can download the second DLC entitled ‘Resurrection’, which continues the story directly after the end of the game and gives some insight into the dramatic epilogue seen by players upon completion of the game, and Gabriel's ultimate destiny. This will be larger in scope than the first add-on, as it features a final showdown with a very notorious enemy.

The download content will be available from PlayStation Network (7,99 Euros) and Xbox Live Arcade (800 MS Points) at the end of March.

In Castlevania: Lords of Shadow players take on the role of Gabriel Belmont, voiced by Robert Carlyle, the hero of the game and part of the legendary Belmont clan from Castlevania lore. Gabriel is a member of the Brotherhood of Light, an elite group of holy knights who protect and defend the innocent against the supernatural. When his beloved wife was brutally murdered by the evil forces of darkness and her soul is trapped for eternity, she realizes the horrific truth of what is at stake and guides her husband to his destiny - and hopefully salvation for the world. Gabriel must track down the mysterious Lords of Shadow in order to unite the pieces of a relic called "The God Mask" that can purify the world and has the power to bring the dead back to life. Thus, Gabriel must travel through the destroyed world over snowy mountain ranges, gothic castles, and frozen wastelands in a devastated Southern Europe during the Middle Ages. Armed with the versatile Combat Cross™, Gabriel must defeat the evil tyrants in order to bring balance back to the world.

Along Gabriel's journey, gamers will traverse over 50 diverse and beautifully realized 3D stages, come up against over 45 enemies, and defeat adversaries that scale to the size of the complete environment with skill, power and timing. In total, the game boasts over 40 possible combo attacks that can be added to Gabriel's arsenal, as players must use secondary weapons like daggers and holy water and combine them with light and dark magic for a wealth of powerful attacks to unleash upon your foes. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow offers a wide range of puzzles with larger adversaries that require a specific means to exploit weaknesses, or object-related puzzles that will open doors or give access to previously unreachable areas.

The latest Castlevania experience has quickly become a fan favorite with rich storytelling, innovative gameplay, intricate graphics, and iconic voice acting by some of the world's most recognizable voice talents including Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle, Natasha McElhone and Jason Issacs. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is scheduled to be released in Japan this December.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, rated "M" for Mature, is now available for purchase at retailers nationwide for an MSRP of $59.99.
