'Operation Flashpoint: Red River' (ALL) - 30 New Screens

by Rainier on April 29, 2011 @ 12:10 p.m. PDT

Set to deliver an authentic and intensely personal US Marine Corps infantryman experience, Red River’s epic campaign will be played out on a deadly new battlefield set in the remote yet beautiful country of Tajikistan along the Vakhsh River.

Building extensively on the successes of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, Red River brings wide-ranging advancements including a deeper narrative-led campaign, streamlined inventory and control system, a refined enemy and squad AI system, player class roles including customisable XP upgrades and loadout choice, close-quarters combat, new air support options and comprehensive tutorials.

Refining the Operation Flashpoint co-op infantry experience further, players will be able to team up with their friends to play through additional co-operative game modes. Whether escorting a convoy to safety under heavy fire, or falling back from the enemy against almost insurmountable odds, each unique mode will test players’ tactics and teamwork in distinct ways. New player class roles mean that gamers can play the way they want, honing skills in their chosen fields as they rank up through the new XP reward system and customise their equipment with numerous upgrades.

Set to deliver an authentic and intensely personal infantry experience, Operation Flashpoint: Red River’s narrative unfolds over three acts, following an expeditionary US Marine force facing off against insurgent forces and the Chinese PLA. The fireteam is the principle unit of the Marine Corps, and in Red River players can choose to fight in the role of four distinct and complimentary classes. The Grenadier, Scout, Rifleman and Automatic Rifleman each offer different strengths and weaknesses and combine to create a fearsome fighting unit.

The ultimate expression of Operation Flashpoint: Red River’s tactical gameplay is in the game’s seamless drop-in drop-out co-op play. Up to four players can perform different fireteam roles in campaign mode and across four separate Fireteam Engagements, which present a challenging range of exhilarating combat scenarios.

Whether playing solo or co-operatively, gamers can build up XP across all modes to unlock weapons, skills and modifications for each class. With the unique perspectives of four specialists to experience, replayability is extended across the substantial campaign mode and standalone Fireteam Engagements.

Taking the tactical infantry shooter to a deadly new battlefield where one bullet can kill, Operation Flashpoint: Red River will set a new standard for authentic and intense tactical combat.
