'Crasher' Developer Shut Down

by Rainier on May 2, 2011 @ 1:16 p.m. PDT

Crasher falls into the category of M.O.B.A.’s (multiplayer online battle arenas) and has new features called "Stars," which are unique vehicles engaged in team combats or "TvsT" (Team vs Team), with a strong RPG aspect.

Mindscape has decided to shut down it's French development studio Punchers Impact according to a former employee's twitter (which was removed shortly thereafter). Punchers Impact was also working on Lucha Fury, which is still scheduled for release on XBLA/PSN. The servers for Crasher will remain online for the time being, but since the game has the ability for players to host their own games/servers, the game itself may live on as long as people are willing to play/host.

Crasher is a digital download multiplayer online battle arena game (MOBA) that introduces a completely unique way to enjoy this genre – through vehicular combat. Being the first MOBA ever to feature cars, Crasher places gamers behind the wheel of distinctive, fantasy-style vehicles where speed, team play and tactics are key as players engage in team vs. team combat. With a strong RPG aspect, the game requires strategic, integrated play among teams of up to five players each (5 vs 5). Each team must use the best mix of tactics, vehicle arsenals (heavy itemization) and skills to demolish anything that stands in their way and achieve victory. Each vehicle has its own features and style reflective of the environments in which they operate -- abandoned, post-human worlds.

Crasher's league mode allows players to overtake and defend areas in pursuit of victory. It also features Ladder rankings (individual player AND team rankings) with a unique matchmaking system to create a truly competitive environment. Spectator mode, designed mainly for official ranked matches, allows players to log on and witness the strategic team play without actually entering the battle. The garage mode allows players to unlock new vehicles and weapons in order to enhance their equipment and customize vehicles to the fullest. A full reward system (XP and credits) allows the freedom for players to choose how they want to spend their credits in the shop to purchase new cars, weapons, etc.

Crasher’s reactive combat system blends action, arcade driving and strategy, using MMO-style controls with an intuitive feel for Xbox 360, PC and PS3 gamers.

Crasher will be available via Steam for PC and MAC for $30.00 USD.
