'Mega Man Legends 3: Protoype Version' (3DS) Gets Delayed

by Rainier on May 22, 2011 @ 6:12 a.m. PDT

Mega Man Legends 3: Protoype Version will give fans a taste of the upcoming Mega Man Legends 3 and introduce a brand new character to the franchise: Barrett, the reckless leader of a sky biker gang!

Producer Kitabayashi-san made an important message today regarding the release of Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version:

Today I come to you with an important announcement.

The release of "Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version", which had been planned to coincide with the launch of the Nintendo eShop at the end of May [in Japan], has been delayed. It's always been our aim in the production of this game to create something that would provide a fun time for all, and from here on out, we will be maintaining this aim with a renewed desire to create a product of the highest quality. Please wait just a little longer!

My sincere apologies go out to all who have been eagerly awaiting this game's release! It's terribly unfortunate that this announcement had to come right on the heels of the "Real Meeting" [note: this was a hands-on event to take place in Japan, which has also been delayed] delay announcement, as I know many of you are worried. But all of us here on the development team are going to continue working on this project, harder than ever. Keep cheering us on!

Mega Man Legends 3 is the first Capcom game to be co-developed by the fans.  Prototype Version gives players the first taste of Mega Man’s upcoming open-world action/adventure game, and lets them see a game still early in the development process.  It also introduces a new character to the franchise, the reckless leader of a sky biker gang, Barrett.

Be the first to try out his new close combat gameplay style, and see first-hand some of the fan contributions to the game come to life. Also, once you have finished the core missions, receive access to areas of the game not yet finished, as well as a debug menu that gives you special moves and abilities.

Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be one of the first downloadable launch titles for the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo 3DS once the shop opens for business.
