'Dead Nation' (PS3) To Expand With Road of Devastation DLC - Screen

by Rainier on Sept. 6, 2011 @ 2:27 p.m. PDT

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is a top-down shoot ‘em up, set in an apocalyptic, zombie-infested world.

Sometime in the not-too-distant future, a deadly virus is once again sweeping the globe, infecting everyone in its path and killing off almost all the human race. To the horror of the survivors, the dead have begun rising from the grave, hell-bent on feeding on the living and wiping out mankind for good. But, just as it seems all is lost, a small pocket of survivors emerges, determined to take back the world from the undead.

You are one of these survivors. Armed to the teeth and totally outnumbered, you're the last hope of discovering a cure for the virus and saving humanity. Just remember to lock, load, and aim for the brain!

You will be able to team up with your friends either sharing the same couch or via the PlayStation Network against the undead invasion and start blasting thousands of zombies into pieces and piling up the bodies. The online co-op fully matches the offline experience. Enjoy the full co-op experience with hundreds of on-screen zombies, huge explosions, blowing up zombies into a plethora of pieces and bloody entrails scattered around.

Dead Nation recruits fighting against the spreading of a dreadful zombie virus are now facing new challenges when needing to travel the "Road Of Devastation" in a DLC pack available soon for download exclusively on PSN.

"We've been working hard since the launch of Dead Nation to bring exciting new content to the fans of the game," says Housemarque CEO, Ilari Kuittinen. "Since the launch of the game, Dead Nation has been a top selling PSN title having fans all around the globe. After being included in the Welcome Pack offering, the game has reached over 3.8 millions downloads, which is simply mindboggling and unheard of for a PSN game."

Continuing from the events where the original game left off (or, is it actually the other way around...), you'll find Road of Devastation will put your skills to the ultimate test. You'll find yourself waking up in a laboratory with only one way out. Outside the door you're presented with a choice - you're faced with a crossroads leading to three different roads, each with their own unique environments, challenges and enemies waiting for you.

In addition to the range of enemies and weapons from the original game, Road of Devastation will present you with a variety of new tools and equipment to dispose of your enemies with, while introducing new enemies and obstacles encountered in the unique new environments.

Pricing and the release date will be announced soon.

Key Features:

  • Global Zombie Infection Status Map: Track your zombie kills with the daily online world map aggregating the scores of players from all around the globe
  • Highly Advanced Zombie A.I.: The "smartest" zombies you've ever encountered. These zombies lurk in the shadows and perform surprise attacks, drop down from higher surroundings (buildings, balconies, etc.) right on top of you, and even try to grab you behind or through fences.
  • Zombie Body Piles: The most on-screen zombies in a video game to date. If you spot one wandering zombie, it's more than likely that 30 or more zombies are sure to follow.
