Yesterday, the Associated Press reported that former U.S. Marine Amir Mizra Hekmati was sentenced to death by Iran "for cooperating with a hostile nation, membership of the CIA and trying to implicate Iran in terrorism."
While the U.S. government and his family deny these claims, saying he was merely visiting relatives in Iran, Hekmati was previously a consultant/designer for KumaWar's free-to-play, mission-based shooter. One mission is particularly about the U.S. Army attacking an Iranian nuclear facility, and Kuma Reality Games is now being accused of being a CIA front.
After being arrested several months ago, Hekmati made a statement on Iranian state TV saying, "After DARPA, I was recruited by Kuma Games Company, a computer games company which received money from CIA to design and make special films and computer games to change the public opinion’s mindset in the Middle East and distribute them among Middle East residents free of charge. The goal of Kuma Games was to convince the people of the world and Iraq that what the US does in Iraq and other countries is good and acceptable."
