'Splinter Cell' (ALL) Movie In The Works, Starring Tom Hardy

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist delivers a gripping modern-day special-ops story line with a new level of technical innovation and quality.

Earlier this month Ubisoft entered into a partnership with renowned writer Nathan Edmondson and artist Marc Laming to create a graphic novel based on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchise, and with the recent Assassin's Creed movie deal, it should come as no surprise that Ubisoft's other flagship franchise is getting a movie deal as well.

While there is no specific studio tied to the project yet, it is said that both Warner Bros. and Paramount are being approached, the lead actor has already been signed. Tom Hardy, known for Warrior, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises (Bane) and most recently Lawless, is currently working on Mad Max: Fury Road.

The movie script will be written by Eric Singer (known for The International) in which Hardy will play Sam Fisher, a highly-trained special operative in a fictional black-ops operation called Echelon.

"Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills," said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "His involvement in the 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell' movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and ... we're confident he'll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story ... while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans."
