GameStop has unveiled its Black Friday specials to help gift-givers complete their holiday shopping list.

Customers are encouraged to visit their local GameStop store or the official website on Black Friday to enjoy the hottest deals on new and pre-owned game titles, accessories, consumer electronics, and new and pre-owned gaming consoles. Participating stores will open at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, November 29.

In a recent holiday survey conducted of 1,000 PowerUp Rewards (PUR) loyalty members and 500 general gift-givers, approximately 88 percent of the PUR members indicated they want video games, consoles or accessories as a gift this holiday season, while 42 percent of the general gift-givers plan to purchase video games, accessories or consumer electronics for the children or gamers in their life.

GameStop’s Black Friday price specials will help these and other price-conscious holiday shoppers by offering a large number of discounts only available at GameStop stores and on GameStop.com.

“On Black Friday and through the weekend, GameStop will be offering customers deals and discounts on a vast selection of new and pre-owned video games, accessories and electronics, as well as pre-owned PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii gaming consoles that are sure to be on everyone’s holiday wish list,” said Ashley Sheetz, chief marketing officer at GameStop. “With more than 2,500 gaming and electronic gifts under $25, our customers can find a great gift for any gamer in their life. No other retailer can come close to that.”

GameStop will not be open on Thanksgiving Day, to ensure that all its store associates are able to celebrate the holiday with their families and get rested up for what is sure to be an exciting Black Friday given the recent launches of the new Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One consoles.

“Out of respect for our store associates and their families, GameStop made the business decision to not open our more than 4,200 U.S. retail stores on Thanksgiving,” said Jason Cochran, vice president of Store Operations and Strategic Initiatives for GameStop. “We will be opening the majority of our stores at midnight to offer customers our Black Friday promotions.”
