Rainmaker Entertainment is known for the recently released animated movie Escape From Planet Earth (and a bunch of Barbie related stuff prior to that), while Blockade Entertainment (currently working on an animated movie based on the Heavenly Sword video game starring the voices of Fringe's Anna Torv, and Thomas Jane) is best known for using video game assets to create television series, webisodes, game trailers, commercials, and DVD films.

Insomniac is playing a hands-on role with the film’s production, screenplay, character development, and animation consulting. Furthermore, Insomniac's own Ratchet & Clank writer, T.J. Fixman, who has written all of the recent Ratchet & Clank games, is writing the script for the film as well.
