Deck13 Acquires Cranberry Productions

by Rainier on June 7, 2013 @ 10:42 a.m. PDT

German based developer Deck13 (known for the Jack Keane series) has acquired fellow German studio Cranberry Productions (known for Black Mirror, Lost Chronicles of Zerzura).

Due to the steady growth, the merging of the renowned Deck13 team with the up-and-coming Cranberry Productions was a logical choice in order to open up new fields. Under the name of Deck13 Hamburg, the newly-formed team will focus on developing games for mobile platforms.

"The team from Cranberry will help us to better perceive our diverse possibilities in the games sector," says Jan Klose, Managing Director and Creative Director of Deck13. "In addition to big productions for the next-generation consoles, we also have a clear vision of our role in the mobile market, which requires an experienced and powerful team. We want to target as many platforms as possible with excellent games."

"We know our former employees will be in good hands at Deck13 Hamburg," says Frank Brügmann, CEO of dtp Entertainment. "We wish them and the entire team at Deck13 all the best for the future, and we are convinced that their new collaboration will bring forth many exciting games."

Overall, Deck13 has a very exciting lineup for the near future: The team is currently working together with publisher CI Games on the role-playing game Lords of the Fallen for the next-gen consoles and PC. The game is being developed with the specially created high-performance "Fledge" technology, which is also being used for the upcoming iPad title Tiger&Chicken.

"With our current projects, our strong team, the high-powered engine and partners within and outside the games industry, we see ourselves in an excellent position for the years to come," says Dr. Florian Stadlbauer, Managing Director and Executive Director of Deck13. "We are prepared for the developments the future holds in store for the market, and we are looking forward to them."
