Warmachine: Tactics will include a single-player campaign and feature synchronous and asynchronous online multi-player play. The game will launch with two playable factions—Cygnar and Khador. A stretch goal for the Kickstarter campaign, if met, would add Cryx and the Protectorate of Menoth to the game’s launch. Warmachine: Tactics will also be expanded with downloadable content.
Privateer Press Interactive’s partner in the project, WhiteMoon Dreams, boasts a veteran team of game developers who have worked on blockbuster titles including the Fallout series, Descent, Ratchet & Clank, Medal of Honor, Command & Conquer, and many others.
“Warmachine is just dominating the tabletop miniatures scene,” says WhiteMoon Dreams CEO Jay Koottarappallil. “And, we’re thrilled to be working with Privateer Press to imagine this exciting lore, epic characters, and unique game world as a video game. We have some awesome turn-based strategy action for gamers, and tasty new goodies for Warmachine fans.” The people comprising the team of WhiteMoon Dreams have previously worked on groundbreaking titles such as the Fallout series, Myth 3, Flower, the Ratchet & Clank series, and the Medal of Honor series.
The 30-day Kickstarter launches July 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. PDT and continues through 11:59 p.m. PDT on Aug. 9, 2013, with a goal of raising $550,000 to fund development of the game. Additional stretch goals will add additional factions and features. There are multiple different options for pledge levels, and Privateer Press and WhiteMoon Dreams are contributing major digital and physical rewards, including limited edition Warmachine loot available only to Kickstarter backers during this brief campaign. One of the highlights of the Kickstarter campaign’s rewards is a collection of Kickstarter exclusive miniatures that are fully playable in the Warmachine tabletop miniatures game, including a new character Cygnaran journeyman warcaster, new character novice warcasters for Khador, the Protectorate of Menoth, Cryx, Retribution of Scyrah, and Mercenaries, and a new Cygnaran warcaster and his Cryxian epic form.
