'Hybris' Delayed Until 2014

by Rainier on Aug. 12, 2013 @ 9:12 p.m. PDT

Hybris is a psychological puzzle/platform thriller about a boy trying to survive after entering the forest to escape his parents' fight.

You play as Kevin, a teenager living a lonely life. Your parents seem to be fighting all the time and you are unable to connect with anyone. You can only find peace at your favorite hill, where the troubles of this world seem so far away. One terrifying night you will struggle to stay alive after witnessing an event that will change the face of this world forever.

Hybris is the first chapter of a psychological puzzle/platform thriller like nothing you have seen before. Drawing inspiration from classic adventure games and fusing some of their best parts with modern gameplay techniques, we have created a gripping experience that will challenge and thrill you.

Hybris core gameplay is physics-based puzzles along with a one-slot inventory and a time freezing mechanic. This will allow you to time certain actions to perfection, plus do some other neat tricks.

Music will be composed by Grammy nominated Austin Wintory (of Journey fame).

Initially we intended to release Hybris... just about now. Unfortunately we have to crash your spirit by announcing a delay of several months.

You see, Hybris was written as a trilogy but we are now thinking of merging the three games into two bigger ones, for narrative purposes. This is part of the reason we delay. The other part? A burning desire to squeeze in more details of the rich universe we created.

Yup, new deadline = better graphics!
