Outcast Reboot HD lets you combat against clever reactive AI, features excellent voice acting, symphonic music, and 20+ hours of highly engrossing adventure.
Fresh3D Inc. has launched a KickStarter campaign, looking for a total of $600,000, to bring a reboot HD of the open world game ‘Outcast’ to PC/Mac and potentially nextgen consoles.
Once the original $600,000 goal has been reached, additional finding will unlock Mac/Linux edition ($750k), DirectX 11 enhancements ($950k), Oculus Rift support ($1M), next-gen consoles ($1.35M), and last but not least an entire new world (1.7M).
It's worth to notice that, for now, all the characters are using the original 3d models. These 3d models are converted at load time from the original assets. To do this, actually, we have integrated FreshEngine into the original source code and plan to replace or improve each relevant subsystems.
Having integrated the original source code allows us to start working quicker on a functional gameplay version instead of restarting from scratch and taking the risk to loose the essence of the game, which is a big risk given the size of the project.
Obviously in the production phase, each of these characters will be replaced with highly detailed 3d models, more bones, detailed textures and dedicated shaders.
