UFC 177 is slated to take place on Saturday, August 30 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California. With the biggest rematch of the year only a few days away, we fired up EA SPORTS UFC to simulate the Bantamweight bout and see which 135-pounder came out on top.
Following TJ Dillashaw’s shocking domination of Renan Barao in their first meeting at UFC 173, both fighters will be facing even higher stakes in their second outing with Dillashaw looking for his first title defense against a highly motivated Barao who will be looking to take back the belt with authority.
After five grueling rounds, it looks like a rubber match will eventually be needed as Barao edged out Dillashaw to retake the Bantamweight strap with a split-decision victory.
Unleashing two of the highest rated fighters in EA SPORTS UFC on each other for multiple bouts didn’t disappoint. As you may have guessed the results were some of the closest we’ve seen. The constants throughout all simulated fights were Barao landing slightly more significant strikes than his opponent, while Dillashaw maintained the edge in wrestling, scoring more takedowns. The rare finishes were split equally down the middle, with the overwhelming majority of bouts ending in decisions where the Brazilian’s arm got raised a fraction more than Dillashaw’s to give him the win in our Sim.
