'Guild of Dungeoneering' Picked Up By Versus Evil, Making Debut At PAX

by Rainier on Jan. 21, 2015 @ 10:16 a.m. PST

Guild Of Dungeoneering is a dungeon exploration game where you don't get to control the adventurer. Instead, you lay out the dungeon one room at a time and try and guide your hero to victory.

Guild of Dungeoneering sees players guide their hero’s dungeon run with the careful placement of rooms and monster cards to steal the loot and escape with their lives… but it doesn't always work out as planned!

“I am very pleased and excited to be working with Versus Evil on the launch of Guild of Dungeoneering,” said Colm Larkin, Founder of Gambrinous.  “After all of our hard work going through Steam Greenlight and making it onto Steam, it’s great to know that our first commercial game is in such safe hands with Versus Evil and I am really looking forward to getting Guild of Dungeoneering out there in front of the gamers that have been so supportive over the past year”.

Guild of Dungeoneering is a turn-based dungeon crawler with a twist: instead of controlling the hero you build the dungeon around him. Using cards drawn from your Guild decks, you lay down rooms, monsters, traps and of course loot! Meanwhile your hero is making his own decisions on where to go and what to fight. But will he be strong enough to take on the dungeon's overlord?

In between dungeon runs you manage your Guild, building new rooms to attract new classes of adventurer and to expand your decks of cards with more powerful items and events.

“From the moment the team at Versus Evil saw Guild of Dungeoneering we knew this is something that we just had to get behind and help publish” said Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil. “The gameplay itself is such a simple premise on the outside but with solid depth beneath the surface. It also has one of the most important elements needed to make a game successful – fun replayability which has been proven by the daily play sessions the team and I have been having over the holiday break! Guild of Dungeonering is a simply fantastic addition to our already impressive Q1 and Q2 product line up and I am thrilled to be going into the first consumer facing games expo of 2015 with such an impressive number of strong indie development teams”.

Guild of Dungeoneering will be playable at PAX South on PC and is just one of the many games being shown by Versus Evil at the show. Exhibiting out of booth 1252 in Hall C, the indie publisher will be showing its Q1 and Q2 line up including Stoic’s The Banner Saga playable on PS4 and PC, 4gency’s Habitat on PC, Redacted’s Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma on PC, Swordtale’s Toren on PC and PS4, and Tangrin’s Kyn on PC.
