'Wave of Darkness' Leaving Early Access This Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 2, 2015 @ 10:29 p.m. PST

Offering a vast and impressive fantasy world, Wave of Darkness was developed to hardcore fans of old school hack’n slash RPGs.

With more than 70 hours of gameplay in a world of considerable size, Wave of Darkness is a complex, hardcore, "not holding your hand" title with deep, engaging gameplay and hundreds of features. Players can follow the strict path of the plot, complete main quests until the end or, unlike so many titles, in Wave of Darkness they are truly completely free to wander around, to explore every corner of the Danian’s land, meet various NPCs, complete side quests and puzzles, fight dangerous adversaries etc.

Danian’s land, a part of Narr world, is mostly filled with swamps and innumerable dangerous creatures. The entire area is corrupted by the malevolent Nekromant and Dark Magic cults. Your main task as player is to help surviving Danians free their land from the malicious enemy who rules with darkness. Danian race is one of the oldest and strongest in the world of Narr. If they fail in their efforts to defeat enemy the rest of the Narr will succumb to darkness and Human and Elven fate will soon follow Dwarven’s who were turned into the stones during last big war. If there were no impressive underground structures and mines left behind them nobody would ever know about their existence.

In order to help Danians destroy the enemy and his allies you’ll have to work on your skills, gather information, explore dungeons and secrete temples, learn how to summon the creatures, monsters and elementals to fight on your side because as you step out of the habituated area the nature is filled with hungry creatures much stronger than you. You will have to do many favors, build your reputation, become proficient in trade and magic, you’ll have to find a way to please Veles, Svarog and Perun, three Gods whose help may become indispensable. If you are smart enough to solve puzzles you’ll improve your abilities quickly, empower your weapons and magic and be able to teleport to distant areas.

Dreamatrix Game Studios RPG title Wave of Darkness is getting released out of Early Access on November 5th 2015.

Following the great reception from Early Access customers and the amount of good and positive vibrations among the community who wanted to help with great ideas, bug reports and, naturally, constructive criticism, Wave of Darkness, now with a complete voiceover is ready for the full release after four months of Early Access development stage.

Majority of suggestions, bug reports and some criticism resulted in five major patches and several smaller patches which helped Wave of Darkness to become a more stable, more robust, and ultimately a great RPG title. All in all, during Early Access development stage we have applied over 70 game fixes and over 15 new features; some bigger, some smaller.

Players will continue to receive updates with the same frequency as during the Early Access development stage. We will continue talking with players on Kickstarter and Steam discussion boards, and we will continue listening to new great ideas and suggestions.

Key Features:

  • Players are free to move in this nonlinear world, in any direction they choose. As long as they have the necessary items or skills to survive in the field;
  • Unlocking System with Runes: using specific runes or keys players can interactively unlock and activate locked chests or crates and other mechanisms in the game;
  • Expandable inventory with item stacking and sorting;
  • Informative tooltips with data about single item type, including runes, potions and spells;
  • Empowered items - some items have magical bonuses which draw their power from certain relics. Player can have up to four such relics active at any given time. These relics improve all item’s special bonuses;
  • Scrolls of summoning which summon various creatures to fight at your side. Elementals, undead creatures such as zombies or skeletons, even some reptiles can be summoned;
  • With full freedom, explore hundreds of unique locations (dungeons, forts, camps, cemeteries, docks, mountains, canyons, flying islands, swamps, temples, shrines etc.);
  • Fight your way through dungeons, caves, crypts, mausoleums and catacombs and rest in Danian’s capitol Sidis Tarea;
  • 200+ types of wild creatures and monsters that drop several loots so you stand a good chance of getting multiple valuable items;
  • Spell generator – original way to make your magic from runes;
  • Discover different ways to use and combine more than 35 combat, creature lore, crafting, gathering, resistance and devotion skills;
  • Craft normal, magical, special, empowered and blessed items;
  • System of sacrifices: The 4 gods; Perun, Veles, Svarog and Chernobog, each have their own shrines throughout the continent. Activating a shrine opens the sacrifice panel with options to sacrifice items and gain divine favors but evil statues act badly on you;
  • Blessed items - these items are blessed by one of three main gods - Perun, Svarog or Veles and they give players additional bonuses at the cost - each item has blessing that lasts for up to one hour of gameplay. Once blessing runs out, item behaves as normal non-magical item. Blessings can be 'recharged' using god shrines that are placed throughout the wilderness;
  • Cursed items - these are magical items whose properties player does not know until he “Identifies” such items using oracle stones. They look like normal or magical items but they carry curses with them. Once equipped, curse becomes active and item cannot be removed unless you visit the shrine of favorable god;
  • Wave of Darkness is a 64-bit title. Streaming technology enables playing without any loading screens. All data seamlessly loads in background;
