'Tropico 5' (ALL) Espionage Expansion Announced, Coming Soon - Screens

by Rainier on May 22, 2015 @ 9:44 a.m. PDT

Packed with a whole host of new gameplay features and all new artwork designed from scratch, Tropico 5 takes the city-builder series into a new and exciting direction – dynasties!

You, as El Presidente, will first take control of the infamous island of Tropico during early colonial times and then guide it through the centuries as the world changes and moves ever forward. You must tackle the changing needs of your people, as well as opposing governments and factions, and thus lay the foundations for your own dynasty. As you move through your years in office you can promote members of your extended family on the island to positions of power: such as ambassador, commanding general or even Supreme Ruler, to ensure your legacy thrives through the eras. As your influence and wealth grows, so do the threats to your burgeoning island superpower. Can you survive both World Wars, prosper through the Great Depression, rule as an iron-fisted dictator through the Cold War and advance your country to modern times and beyond? From the 19th to the 21st century, each era carries its own challenges and opportunities.

As well as a wealth of other new features, including advanced trading mechanics, technology, scientific research trees and island exploration, Tropico 5 will add cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to four players for the first time in the series’ history! Viva El Presidente!

“Espionage’ features the all new campaign ‘The Maltese Toucan’, a thrilling new adventure wherein Tropico’s precious treasures need to be protected against foreign agents at all costs. Only you, as El Presidente, can keep Tropico safe from enemy spies and foreign powers that might try to steal your island’s best kept secrets for their own gain.

Protect Tropico’s borders and reveal enemy agents by installing Security Checkpoints and throwing them in the island’s new Dungeon. Train your own spies in the new Spy Academy and send them off to steal foreign capital or top secret technology from your enemies. Foil attacks on your beautiful island paradise by building the Ministry Of Information and monitor your citizens according to the strict Tropican data privacy laws. For additional air security you can call on the new Police Blimp, and for serious military scenarios you will be equipped with some new toys: the Mechanized Garrison is battle seasoned and ready for any state of emergency!

Spanning six missions, you can expect manipulation, revolts and acts of sabotage as you use all the resources at your disposal to protect your island from the outside powers trying to move in. Will your drink be ‘shaken or stirred’ at the end of this thrilling spy tale?

Included in the ‘Espionage’ expansion:

  • New campaign and thrilling story spanning 6 challenging missions
  • 9 new spy and military themed buildings
  • 4 new island maps, such as "Dos Torres," and "Grito Grande"
  • 4 new music tracks
  • 4 new avatar costumes, such as "Evening Gown" (female), “Tuxedo” (male)
  • 6 new avatar accessories: "Spy" (hat), "Long Curls" (hair), and more
  • New sandbox tasks and events to go with the new ‘espionage’ setting
  • All new content plus the new spying mechanics are also available in existing Sandbox maps and in all multiplayer modes.

The ‘Espionage’ expansion DLC for Tropico 5 will be available 28th May on Steam for PC, Mac and SteamOS for £14.99/€19.99/$19.99 (Xbox 360 and PS4 versions arriving later). For non-Steam users, the PC version of the DLC is available via the Kalypso launcher.
