'Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment' (Vita) Coming To PS4 - Screens

by Rainier on May 27, 2015 @ 4:04 p.m. PDT

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is an RPG with a two-fold story. The first part is a modified version of the first game, Infinity Moment, while the second part is the new Hollow Area chapter.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is based off the light novel, manga and anime Sword Art Online and emulates the Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (VRMMORPG) gameplay from the Sword Art Online storyline. Multiplayer role playing gameplay will feature a pseudo Massively Multiplayer Online element so that players feel immersed in a massive virtual reality (VR) world.

Take on the role of Kirito, the main character of Sword Art Online, who has been locked into the VR world of Aincrad by the creator of the game along with thousands of other players, including popular characters from the original anime series. To escape the fantastical and dangerous world, players must explore and defeat the enemies contained within. Players will actively engage monsters and characters and experience aggressive battles with breathtaking attack actions, exhilarating combos and powerful burst attacks. Continuing to fight is essential when locked in the VR world – if players die in the fantasy world, their character will die in real life.

Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment and Sword Art Online: Lost Song are both poised to bring the action and rich story of the highly popular Sword Art Online anime to life on the PlayStation family of consoles,” said Chris Gilbert, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “The popularity of the light novel and anime have been growing at an astonishing rate and we’re excited to add the Sword Art Online franchise to our company’s illustrious roster of popular anime games.”

Players with save data from the Vita version of the game on will be pleased to learn that some items from that game will be transferrable to the PS4; additionally DLC from the Vita title will be unlockable on the PS4 at a later date.
