'Project CARS' (ALL) Adds Ruapuna Park DLC, Cancels Wii U Version

by Rainier on July 21, 2015 @ 9:08 a.m. PDT

Project CARS (Community Assisted Racing Simulation) is a crowd-funded racing game where the community participates in the development of the game.

Project CARS is the most authentic, beautiful, intense and technically-advanced racing game on the planet. Guided, tested, and approved by a passionate community of racing fans and real-life drivers, Project CARS represents the next-generation of racing simulation as the ultimate combination of fan desire and developer expertise.

Project CARS gives players the freedom to choose their own destiny - whether that's starting as a karting prodigy and going on to become an Formula champion within 3 years, to return year after year and defend your GT title against all on-comers, or to prove your dominance across six other distinct and popular motorsports.

Create a driver, pick from a huge variety of motorsports, and shift into high gear to chase a number of Historic Goals and ultimate recognition in the Hall Of Fame. Then test your skills online either in competitive fully-loaded race weekends, leaderboard-based time challenges, or continually-updated community events.

Featuring the largest track roster of any recent racing game with a ground-breaking dynamic time of day & weather system, world-class graphics and handling, deep tuning & pit stop functionality, and support for Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus, Project CARS leaves the competition behind in the dust.

Slightly Mad Studios head Ian Bell confirmed that Project CARS is no longer coming to Wii U due to hardware limitations, but hold out hope that Nintendo's next console (the unannounced NX) will be able to accomodate the racing game.

"The official line is that we're awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now pCARS is simply too much for the Wii U."

The current PC, Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game have received a new piece of DLC on-demand, the Audi Ruapuna Park Track Expansion

Comprising of five unique layouts, Ruapuna Park International Raceway is New Zealand's premier motor racing facility, located 13 kilometers west of Christchurch, New Zealand. Hosting some of New Zealand's most exciting racing events, including the prestigious Lady Wigram Trophy and an annual round of the New Zealand V8s series, the track's main 3.3 kilometer layout runs in an anti-clockwise direction and its challenging layout incorporates many fast sweeping corners that reward smooth and precise drivers.

With the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro, six-time American Le Mans Series winner Audi R8 LMP900, and 1989 Audi 90 IMSA GTO rounding out this expansion, all players will additionally be able to get behind the wheel of the coveted and limited run Audi A1 Quattro with delivery of their second Free Car.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the second pack of Community Liveries includes an amazing community-created livery for the Ford Escort Mk 1 as well as six real-life DTM liveries for the Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution2.
