'Umbrella Corps' (ALL) Introduces Multi-Mission Game Mode - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 1, 2016 @ 2:24 a.m. PST

Umbrella Corps is a new fast-paced/competitive 3rd person online shooter featuring quick, intense matches in compact battle zones themed from historic Resident Evil environments.

Umbrella Corporation, a ruthless international pharmaceutical company, had been known for its genetic experiments and biological weaponry that led to worldwide devastation including the infamous Raccoon City incident . Although the organization was brought down in 2003, its legacy of bio-terrorism continued. In the present day, corporations with nebulous interests in bio-weaponry have hired squads of special forces for experimental battles in restricted virus-infected areas against other mercenaries.

Umbrella Corps will feature high-intensity team-based matches where players can compete online in a variety of unique close quarter battle modes. Each adrenaline-fueled match will be short and brutal and is designed for quick and engaging play. The game will feature an analog aim and cover system, allowing for more precise control when firing from cover.

The new “Multi-Mission” mode supports up to 6 players in a match where the first team to win 3 out of the 5 rounds will be the victor. As with “One Life Match” mode, the action is fast and intense with a 3 minute time limit for each round.

“Multi-Mission” mode, as the name implies, consists of rounds that cycle through 8 different rulesets at random. This allows the same team members to consecutively enjoy different gameplay experiences in a seamless way, and provides an expedited matching process for quickly getting into the game. With the random ruleset selection, all teams must stay on their toes to adapt their tactics each round in order to come out on top.

An overview on each ruleset can be found below:

  • Target Hunter – One target will be chosen per team and only killing that target will count towards the score. Players can choose whether to focus on protecting their own target or aggressively attacking the enemy target.
  • Respawn Match – Team deathmatch featuring respawns. Take advantage of the on-screen sound radar map to locate the enemies’ random respawn points.
  • Domination – Secure the specified data transmission point located within the stage for a longer time than the enemy team in order to win.
  • DNA Hunter – Kill zombies and collect their DNA samples. Destroying the opposing team’s Zombie Jammers is a key strategy in this mode.
  • SP DNA Hunter – Kill the special mutated zombies and collect their DNA samples. They are particularly tough and immune to the effects of the Zombie Jammer. It'll take teamwork to bring these creatures down.
  • Collector – Teams battle it out to see who will be first to collect all 5 briefcases in the stage.
  • Protector – Find the briefcase and hold it for as long as possible, while fending off the opposition. The player who has it will become a moving target, so teams must work together effectively.
  • Collar War – Collect the battle data "collars" of downed enemy players, and pick up allies' collars to prevent the enemy team from getting points.

In the One Life Match mode, players must achieve their main objective to take down the other team without any option to re-spawn. One life per round is all a player gets as they must not only face the enemy team but also contend with classic Resident Evil enemies such as zombies that populate each map. Though these can be added threats, they can also be used to a player’s advantage if strategically used to hinder the other team.

In order to face all these threats, players will be equipped with gun and grenade based weaponry as well as specialized gear that add an extra layer of Resident Evil flair to the action. The non-traditional arsenal includes the Brainer (a powerful melee axe which goes straight into the skull), Tactical Shield (an arm-mounted guard allowing players to utilize a zombie as cover), Terrain Spikes (boot-mounted spikes for trampling the enemy), and Zombie Jammer (a device which repels zombies only when active). Players must be quick and strategic in changing up their tactics and weapons to win against the opposing team in this all-out brawl.

Key Features:

  • Close quarters battle – high-intensity, quick-play matches with no place to hide
  • Fast-paced competitive team shooter – players can compete online in adrenaline-fueled matches
  • Variety of unique match options – compete in various modes including the high-stakes One Life Match mode where players only get one chance apiece per round to take down the other team
  • Resident Evil backdrop – familiar environments and enemies such as zombies populate each map, adding another threat or opportunity
  • Analog aim and cover system – flexible system allows for lean and height adjustments for more precise control when firing from cover
  • Gun and grenade based weaponry plus specialized gear with Resident Evil flair:
    • Brainer – a powerful melee axe which goes straight into the skull
    • Tactical Shield – an arm-mounted guard allowing players to utilize a zombie as cover
    • Terrain Spikes – boot-mounted spikes for trampling enemies
    • Zombie Jammer – a device which repels zombies only when active

Umbrella Corps ,powered by the Unity engine, will be available digitally for an MSRP of $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99
