Ever since the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility feature launched on Xbox One, people have been asking for the ability to purchase Xbox 360 games directly via the Xbox One store. Although the games were playable on the Xbox One via BC, if you didn’t already own them, the only way to purchase was to do so on a physical Xbox 360 console or via the Xbox website.
Even though the Xbox website allows for purchases, it has not allowed customers to use Xbox Live credit when buying Xbox 360 games since the transition to real money.
Starting this week, Xbox One members in the preview program will be receiving a system update that enables Xbox 360 game purchases directly in the Xbox One store on the console. Games purchased in this manner will come with both Xbox 360 and Xbox One licenses, so if you do buy an Xbox 360 game via your Xbox One, you will still be able to hop onto a physical Xbox 360 and play it there as well.
