'Rive' (ALL) Narrows Down Date, Developer's Final Game - Trailer

by Rainier on March 10, 2016 @ 9:40 a.m. PST

Rive is a metal-wrecking, robot-hacking 2D shooter/platformer with old-school gaming values with a new-school execution.

Its 360-degree shooting and platforming hybrid causes a ‘dance of destruction’ during an insane sequence of spectacular battles and setpieces.

In the role of space scavenger Roughshot, players can hack their enemies, fire off burst weapons, and prove their mettle in multiple game modes.

"This is it! After more than 15 years of hard work and gallons of blood, sweat and tears, we have decided that RIVE will be Two Tribes’ final game."

What Happened? Two Tribes has written an elaborate blog about their retirement, but the short version is:

  • RIVE is the best game we've ever made
  • RIVE will release in September 2016
  • We will not make a new game after RIVE
  • We will keep supporting our partners and gamers after release
  • Reason? We feel like dinosaurs in the games industry

Key Features

  • All the goodness of platform games and twin stick shooters in one package.
  • Collect hacks and upload them to your enemies to alter their behavior.
  • Old school game design sensibilities, in a decidedly new school execution.
  • Music and Sound Design by Sonic Picnic.
  • Backstory by Dutch author and games journalist Niels 't Hooft.
