World of Fishing is a free to play (no subscription) 3D fishing simulation MMO that combines traditional MMORPG elements such as character development, leveling, quests and the hunt for the perfect gear and equipment, with a realistic yet accessible fishing gameplay mechanic that attracts casual players and core gamers alike.
Big Game Fishing- catching big fish in the ocean - is the crown discipline among Fishermen, whose representation in gaming had, until now, remained very basic. But unlike most games, World of Fishing boasts gameplay depth, high quality 3D graphics, numerous locations ranging from North America (Vancouver, San Francisco, New York) to South Africa and Asia (Thailand, Korea, Japan), and over 360 different types of fish, complete with sophisticated AI. Virtual fishermen chat with their peers, team up in clubs or compete in tournaments to show their success in rankings.
But World of Fishing is also a full MMO that allows thousands of players to fish together, chat or compete to catch the biggest fish! Each virtual fisherman has their own outfits and hooks, rods, baits and boats, and their equipment varies depending on regions. Like in an RPG, character development is central to the gameplay experience: while beginners use their rubber raft to look for mackerel, advanced players may even catch tuna and sharks from their yacht. And those who get lonely out in the ocean can join clubs to team up with others.
Since the start of the open beta in November, InselGames collects important user feedback to improve the game together with Masangsoft. Besides reworked characters, the focus lies on permanent boats, which have been on the team’s wishlist for quite a while and plans have been made to add more fishing spots to World of Fishing in future. The next step is bringing the game to Steam and offer it to a wider target group.
“We are not only aiming at hobby fisherman and casual gamers, but also at hardcore gamers and MMO lovers, which are all part of the big Steam community,” says Patrick Streppel, CEO of InselGames Ltd. “With World of Fishing we are following the footprints of other, already successful fishing games, and yet with the MMO nature of the game set new accents in the market.”
World of Fishing is going to be available through the Steam Store in April 2016.
