'Snow' (ALL) Debuts Snowboarding & Snowmobiling - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on May 24, 2016 @ 1:12 p.m. PDT

Snow is a free-to-play, open-world winter sports game that gives players the chance to freely explore a massive mountain environment on skis or snowboard - alone or with friends.

Competitive players may take part in solo or multiplayer events and challenges all over the mountain to unlock special items and earn a place on global leaderboards. Throughout it all, players can customize their character through SNOW's in-game store, with access to entire catalogues of over a dozen real-world brands. With the game set for an Alpha release later this year, Poppermost will be demoing the game behind closed doors for preview purposes.

In addition to demonstrating the latest progress with the game, Poppermost will also delve deeper into their work with Crytek and CryENGINE 3 as an indie developer. Poppermost, which consists of a three-man team, will also provide unique insights into the challenges of bringing their open world game to life.

Poppermost has been able to cross industry lines to partner with the biggest winter sports athletes and brands.

“Snowboarding and snowmobiling have always been cornerstones of our vision for Snow,” said Alexander Bergendahl, CEO at Poppermost. “We’ve put tremendous care and energy into capturing the very unique ways in which these sports feel in order to deliver that same level of enjoyable authenticity our community has come to expect from the game.”

Poppermost worked hand in hand with core community members to make snowboarding look and feel great from the first push, studying the sport to pinpoint the nuanced differences between how snowboarders and skiers share the mountain. The team will continue to fine-tune these mechanics in ongoing updates with feedback from players. And in true SNOW style, a handpicked selection of boards, bindings, boots and other gear from real-life snowboarding brands like Ride are now available in the in-game store, with additional brands to be revealed throughout the year.

Snowmobiles bring a new dimension of freedom to the game, as players can now drive up the mountain. These powerful vehicles are accessible from anywhere, making it easier than ever to get to those fresh powder cliff drops and backcountry trails. Snowmobiles even have their own sets of tricks and maneuvers for true adrenaline-seekers!

Key Features:

  • Massive Open World: Explore every bit of the 65 km3 world and discover Sialia, the biggest winter mountain ever made in a game. Descend Sialia’s four faces and ride through hidden valleys, mountain towns, and beautiful backcountry landscapes.
  • Authentic Riding Experience: SNOW has been built as a completely physics-driven game to create the most authentic riding experience possible. Feel each turn, jump, and approach every line with complete freedom.
  • Real Clothes and Equipment: SNOW features a deep character customization system and offer real-life products from the latest seasons. We have partnered up with more than twenty partners to offer the biggest catalogue of winter sports products ever done in a video game.
  • Breathtaking Graphics: Snow is powered by Crytek’s CRYENGINE, which provides high production values and best-in-class graphics.
  • Live Service: Snow is designed as a free-toplay game. We will continuously update the game, add new features and content to the mountain and in the store.
  • VR Support: Snow will also support Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR in first-person view. This is the first VR winter sports game ever.

SNOW is now in open beta as a free-to-play title on PC via Steam Early Access, with a beta test on the PS4 expected later this year. Support for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift is also in development.
