'Beyond Flesh and Blood' (ALL) Coming To Steam Early Access - Screens

by Rainier on May 26, 2016 @ 4:16 a.m. PDT

Beyond Flesh and Blood is a 3rd person shooter that challenges players to blast through multiple levels of hostile scavenger forces and mutating enemy threats on a mission to help reclaim the surface of earth – starting with dystopian Manchester.

Ethan is one of Earth’s last few good men in the United Global Remnant (UGR). After failing his pilot test and years in orbit, he finally returns to Earth. Mechs and drones rule what’s left. The only way back is through mind-powered VR controlling the huge, clearance level mechs which hover in pods above the planet.

But with the UGR, there are truths, and there are lies.

With mind control, there’s no death. The only way to get health back is by absorbing the bio-energy spawned by fallen foes, forcing a true fight for survival. Complex mechs, broken signals and reports of unknown life forms begin to change your journey through broken world. As the impossibly dark secrets of a 23rd century Earth unfurl, Ethan’s original UGR mission spins wildly out of control…

Bringing together dystopian themes of dehumanisation, political instability and environmental disaster, Pixelbomb Games have created an amazingly immersive experience where the objective is to tactically understand and utilise your environment in a battle against deadly enemies. Players jack into advanced multi-ability combat rigs and battle a range of formidable enemies and mech weapon systems across post apocalyptic Manchester, in fast paced gameplay that will push any players shooter skills to the limit. Players must battle their way through multiple gore-filled levels, blasting apart grotesque enemy hives, eliminating wave after wave of enemy scum with powerful weapons that push player’s skills to the limit.

By offering the Manchester-set game up for Early Access, the development team is better able to make the game the best it can possibly be, before a full release. The vague sadness attached with not being able to wait is also why we’ve taken a cue from The Smiths for the extremely long and explanatory title of this press release.

We’re still that indie team that’s essentially sprung from nowhere, even after a little Greenlight win back in the day, with high ambitions. We are still aiming for that mint Triple-A look and thorough story experience on a budget. And in trying to achieve those heady heights – we’ve worn ourselves thin. We know many of you have been burned by Early Access, and denying that fact would be completely flipping ridiculous.

So, we have 7 very playable levels and the other 19 on their way, and the team are offering all PC gamers the chance to shape the entire game as a whole. While it’s brazen, it’s also honest, and our way of providing the game warts and all, while listening to how we make that experience better.

In terms of development this is a strong opportunity to evaluate every step of the way which is both comfortable and transparent. Gameplay is king. We will be delivering the best experience we can although it just means it’s going to take more time than we thought –  and making a standalone and standout product, finally, is a challenge worth taking.

For those who would rather wait for the full release, the same applies. Early Access gamers will still get the full game and newest release as standard, and Beyond Flesh and Blood will be getting the proper release treatment.

But if you want to be part of Early Access, jump on board as we give you the best community members the chance to be created into a statue in the game, special thanks, the face of Hostile force wanted posters…

Beyond Flesh and Blood is still preparing a release on console ready in January 2017.

Key Features:

  • Hardcore training: the game is not a cover-based shooter. It’s about using speed and skill to survive
  • Progress is enhanced and reigned in by the communications link between mind and mech
  • Gory over the top action: people being ripped in half, gibs and blood, explosions, fire, lasers…and more gibs
  • Detailed environments: reimagined Manchester playscapes, proudly making full use of the sheer graphical power of Unreal 4
  • Mech in Mech: the player can pilots multiple combat rigs including enemy rigs
  • Hours of story-driven game play: and act one of a trilogy
  • Guns, explosives, industrial lasers: player guns are upgraded throughout the game and enemy weapons can also be obtained by killing the opponent (acting as a temporary upgrade to augment your firepower).
  • Difficult combat designed to test skill: none of these ‘hand holding-ly’ easy gameplay mechanics endemic in modern game design…
  • Leaderboards and Achievements – plus wave-based survival mode for extended gameplay
  • Discover what lies ahead for Earth: and see how you fared against other hardcore players
