by Rainier on Sept. 13, 2016 @ 8:44 a.m. PDT

Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! is a roguelike space adventure with management elements where players manage their very own spaceship and explore a spud filled universe.

To save their beloved grandfather Jiji from the ominous space federation The Eclipse, the protagonists Cassie and Fay traverse the Universe and get caught up in all sorts of wacky adventures.

To find grandfather Jiji, players need to befriend all manners of space creatures and engage in epic battles with space pirates and intergalactic veggies.

At the same time, dozens of planets need to be explored for ores and resources to upgrade the players‘ spaceship and to craft combat weapons. Also, players need to hire the best potato engineers the universe has to offer to man their ships and operate their weapons.

Daedalic Entertainment and Daylight Studios entice visitors of the Tokyo Game Show with an exceptional idea at the studios' booth of Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?!: In Hall 3, N02, 3000 potatoes of the Japanese Matsumoto Farm adorn the booth. Players can grab a potato as a souvenir and choose between three Japanese varieties: May Queen, Toya und Kita-Akari. All potatoes were grown at the Matsumoto Farm in Hokkaido and if any tubers are left, they'll be donated to the charity organization Second Harvest.

Kouta Matsumoto, Business Development Director of Matsumoto Farm, remembers how this idea took shape: "I have known Don for some time now and we were having dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Shibuya when it all happened. It was a shocking surprise when he shared that he has been working on a game IP called Holy Potatoes And he was equally shocked when he found out my family runs a 65 year old potato farm."

Don Sim, CEO of Daylight Studios: “It was like a stroke of lightning and we immediately thought a collaboration between Matsumoto Farm and Daylight Studios would be an amazingly, crazy and fun idea. Crazy fun is the essence of our Holy Potatoes Brand.”
