'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' (ALL) Adds Replay and Killcam Technology

PUBG: Battlegrounds expands the core Battle Royale experience into a highly competitive player vs. player (PvP) game in a vivid open world.

Welcome to the ultimate battle for life and death

In development for PC and Xbox One, using Unreal Engine 4, the standalone game will expand the core Battle Royale experience enjoyed by millions of players into a highly competitive player vs. player (PvP) game in a dynamic open world. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will put up to 64 players on a remote island for a winner-takes-all showdown where strategic gameplay is as important as shooting skills. Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that eventually forces players into a shrinking safe area as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death.

As part of the collaborative development process, PlayerUnknown has relocated to Bluehole’s Korean HQ from his native Ireland to serve as the creative director on the project at Bluehole while maintaining close contact with the grassroots community that has supported his projects.

When the match starts, players have no items or weapons. To progress, they can try to commandeer a vehicle to discover a high-value location, search for weapons or employ other diversified tactics with a goal of being the last man standing. All weapons can be upgraded with attachments such as sights and suppressors and both road and off-road vehicles will be available to players.

Kill or be killed in a fight to be the last man standing.

Seoul-based gaming technology company Minkonet announced its partnership with PUBG Corp. to deliver 3D replay functionality in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The robust 360-degree data capture technology powers the 3D Replay and Killcam features that will debut in PUBG’s upcoming PC 1.0 release.

“Building replay systems for battle royale, open world and massively multiplayer online games that typically feature huge maps and many objects interacting in real time presents many technical challenges,” said Peter Kim, co-founder and CEO of Minkonet. “We know expectations from the community are high and our team worked side-by-side with the PUBG developers to design and deliver a never-before-seen, immersive replay experience that is sure to deliver countless hours of ‘wow-factor’ moments and shareable content.”

The new 3D Replay feature provides seamless playback video of the primary player’s gameplay as well as the innovative ability to closely follow another user’s gaming feats and arena roaming as an in-game observer, providing gameplay viewers, including esports audiences, a superior viewing experience. Minkonet’s 3D replay solution encompasses robust 360-degree high-definition data capture technology that smartly parses large amounts of data from complex and dynamic gaming environments free of playback slowdown or gamer lag.

Killcam functionality provides advanced insight and learning opportunities for players interested in closely re-examining gameplay missteps as well as helping to detect and gather evidence of in-game cheating. Minkonet’s 3D data technology provides an interactive all-around viewpoint that hasn’t been possible with the textual event logs and the video capture of the deceased player in other Killcams. The company’s technology can be leveraged by game developers across all platforms to help curb the increasing amount of cheating and hacking issues afflicting the gaming community worldwide.

Minkonet’s full suite of 3D replay solutions includes a Replay Highlight Cam, Esports Cam, Streamer Cam and Cinemax Cam, all designed to unleash new content capabilities previously unseen in gaming.
